UKs Online Safety Act - Age Verification?
Hey. Does anyone know if EA are planning to put age verification on games, because of the online safety act? The user-to-user section means that any user content has to be heavily moderated or age restricted. Does this mean we won’t be able to use online features in games like Battlefield 6 without verifying age? Will individual features like chat or custom portal content be age restricted? Or will all online play be limited? I’m aware Microsoft is restricting voice chat for strangers and games like GTA5 are age-restricting online modes. Social media like reddit have turned to Persona with their shady practices, policy to keep biometrics for years to train their AI, and their only UK GDPR compliance officer being a welsh spiritual retreat owner. Will EA be doing the same for every online game in their library? If so what will it look like (government ID, AI age estimation, credit card check)? Will it be disability and accessibility friendly (options other than unreliable AI face ID or passport)? And is there any info on what company EA will be using? I tried asking support, but got an automated reply on following game rules then “we can’t help you, use the forums”. Considering the law is active now and EA are liable for its current library of games, and they are racking up pre-orders for BF6 which may have to change player requirements to follow this silly law, I think it’s pretty important to get an answer asap :| Thanks.
EA requires me to verify Age but button is not working
In the middle of the game it suddenly crashed. I got really frustrated and thought it was a driver issue at first. Then I realized EA wants me to verify my age. The stupid button doesn’t work, and the info link just leads to an empty error page. Thanks, EA!
Keep getting disconnected in Steam
I keep getting error code 1478078408, my internet is fine, I've verified files, uninstalled, reinstalled but I can't play the game for more than 5 minutes before I get booted. I've linked EA account to steam and just nothing, is there a fix or do I just genuinely have to wait for them to do something about it? I want to play this game but it seems so hopeless right now.
Game keeps closing
Hi, I never had this issue before with any other “teen rated game”, but my game (The Sims 4) keeps closing and a pop up with a link comes up saying I need to verify my age in order to continue to play the game. I’m not sure why that is necessary. I’ve never had to do that before with any other game with the same rating. I’m hoping this is just a bug. Thank you.
Visual glitch (mostly in menu)
For the last 3 days for some reason, the menu started glitching randomly. panels from one section blacked out in another section, visual "artifacts" and flickering, it makes the menu unusable, including the map, skater edit and objectives. I've tried turning V-sync on and off, verified game files 3 times, it doesn't happen in any other game, just Skate. GPU driver is up to date and hasn't been updated recently.
Push to talk idea (controller) and how to do it
Hi I was thinking skate should implement push to talk which can toggle on and off your mic with a controller by tapping the left Dpad as i personally don’t see a point in having that a social button when it’s in the pause menu, I’m not sure if I’m the only one but I also forget the social is even on the Dpad, and by having that as a text by holding and a tap to toggle on/off for push to talk would be much nicer since voice chat is in the game now. What could also be nice if you had an option to switch the text and push to talk actions in settings, so it’ll be hold to talk and once you let go you’re back to muted, and tap for text, the option would always be nice to have. This makes sense to me as the left Dpad would then be the communication button, I feel social is wasted on the Dpad.Unlinking EA account I did not create from my PSN.
I have been going in circles trying to unlink an old EA account that I believe my friend created probably over a decade ago on my PSN. I am unable to verify the account because it was never mine to begin with and therefore I am completely locked out of playing BF6. Wondering if anyone has had any success with this. The live chat has been completely useless.
