Severe lag after 1 hour of gameplay : requires restart
Hi, I'm experiencing a major performance issue that seems to affect a lot of players (I asked my community and many confirmed having the same problem). When I first launch the game, everything runs smoothly. Menus like Needs, Inventory, and Aspirations open instantly. Build/Buy mode is fine too, with maybe a tiny freeze the first time, but that’s normal. The issue is: the longer I play, the worse the game performs. - After around 30 minutes, the menus start to feel a bit slower. - After about an hour, the game becomes extremely laggy: - Opening the Needs panel takes a few seconds. - Build/Buy mode freezes for 5–6 seconds before opening. - The Eyedropper tool has a delay of around 2 seconds. - UI and general interactions become very sluggish. The only fix is to completely restart the game. After relaunching, everything is smooth again — but only temporarily. After another 30–60 minutes, the problem comes back. This isn’t a hardware issue. My PC setup: - Intel Core i9-12900K - 64 GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA RTX 4090 - Game installed on SSD - No mods, no CC - All expansion packs installed I also tend to play fast-paced, usually on speed 3. In one hour of real-time gameplay, I can go through 10–14 Sim days. It seems like the game is slowly filling up memory or cache that never clears unless I restart. It would be great to know if this has already been reported or tracked by the dev team, because it makes long play sessions really frustrating. Thanks!9.6KViews1034likes63CommentsPacket Loss and Latency Issues on Large Scale Battle Maps/Gamemodes
I’ve been experiencing constant packet loss and latency issues mainly when playing the large scale battle maps/game modes but when switching to the smaller scale maps the issue is gone completely. It’s like playing the game in slow motion basically when I just try to deal with it on the bigger maps/modes. I’m running the game on a gaming laptop with a 13th gen i7, rtx 4070 and 16 GB RAM. When the packet loss/latency issues aren’t happening (rarely) I’m running the game smoothly with around 100+ fps and my connection is completely fine (tested other games and conducted internet speed tests). I've posted about this on Reddit and have found that many others are experiencing this issue as well even with better PC set ups also. Hopefully this gets fixed, pretty bummed out that I can’t experience the craziness of the large scale battles BF is known for. EDIT: A work around for this issue for me is the community servers. I’ve played large scale maps and battles with little to no issues. Hopefully this helps you guys out. Still sucks that we can’t play the official servers without having to deal with this.40KViews282likes127CommentsSims continue canceling actions (Routing Failure)
No matter what I do, painting, bathing the babies, simply bringing them over to bathe, picking them up, walking inside a house, they cancel it or complain that they can’t walk there when they absolutely can. I have to manually click on different areas of the floor and make them walk into a house or go up the stairs or else they complain that they can’t get there. I am getting all kinds of server side lag. My name on the scoreboard constantly shows a wifi symbol with an exclamation point through it. Here are some of things I am experiencing: Sliding in different directions like I am drifting. Severely delayed ADS Rubber-banding back and forth and watching friendlies and enemies do the same. When firing or receiving fire I die instantly with no one there. This problem existed in the beta and I assumed it was a server load problem. I tried various fixes and speedtests on my end and I have no problem in any other online game, including Battlefield 5. Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? Can we change are server location?Solved97KViews252likes594CommentsBF6 Lag
Many people are experiencing lag and latency when playing BF6 on official servers. Doesn't seem to be a problem on community servers. People experience sliding, rubber banding, bullets not landing etc. See post here which contains a lot of people's experiences. It doesnt appear to be network related as people with wired fibre connections are experiencing it, or CPU/VRAM as people are experiencing the issue with specs that mean that this should not be a problem. I noticed that the VRAM usage seems to increase over time during a session on BF6 regardless of the graphics settings used i.e. Low - Overkill. I gave it a test and noted that while setting the graphics to overkill right after launch of the game and prior to loading into a game the VRAM did the following: Started at 8Gb of VRAM usage Increased to 10Gb at the point of the game starting (post loading) Sit at close to 14Gb of VRAM usage in the menu Drop back down to just under 7Gb after I changed it from overkill to another setting and back up to overkill This behaviour seems consistent while playing the game although the values vary but the same increase in VRAM overtime occurs and the longer the play session, the higher the VRAM usage (I've seen it close to the full 16Gb while just in the menu post game). It eventually reaches a point of noticeable stutters, and major FPS decreases whereby it would normally play at 100 - 120 and after some time it would average 60 - 90 regardless of map. I've seen this reported elsewhere such as on Reddit and Steam but I hadn't seen anything on here that I know of so though it may be worth bringing some attention to it. Specs tested on the following with up to date drivers: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Memory: 64GB DDR5 Storage Type: SSD Screenshots included from testing (It states custom on 3 screenshots as I had changed the settings back to Overkill within advanced prior rather than the overall setting)20KViews246likes197CommentsPSA: Mouse Input is broken in this game (looks similar to bad frame timing)
Mouse input is broken, which ruins an otherwise well optimised game. This looks to be getting confused with poor frame timing in a lot of threads, but controller input is unaffected. For reference, I easily average over 100fps even on the bigger maps, but panning the camera with mouse input makes the game feel like it's running at 15fps despite no drops. In-game reporting confirms it's running perfectly, as CPU/GPU are always rendering within 10fps of eachother. Connect a controller though? Buttery smooth camera panning, and easy to track enemies. No hitches or stutters, just butter. I've tried: - All polling rates, from 125hz up to 4000hz - Toggling raw input on/off - Enabling/disabling Nvidia reflex - Changing USB ports, changing to different mice, wired/wireless - USB power saving etc all turned off - I even tried a driver/Nvidia CP restore, but as controller is super smooth, this was a long shot in the first place Unfortunately the game is unplayable using a mouse on PC due to this. It's next to impossible to track targets, and you quickly get a headache from the micro stuttering when panning. The effect is very similar to Helldivers 2 on PC, when you turn off 'Mouse Smoothing', as that game has serious issues with raw mouse input. Happy to hear suggestions on how to fix this. Mice tried: - Keychron M4 - Logitech G305 - Logitech G604 - Razer Naga Hyperspeed - AttackShark M1 I've also tried on an entirely different PC, same results. OLED as always exhacerbates the issue too, due to the awesome pixel response times. I fear many won't see it due to slower LCDs. Specs are: 5700x3d 3060ti 8GB 32GB DDR4 3600 CL16 AW3423DW (Gsync module version) This is on a fresh Windows install, up to date drivers (tried DDU as well to be sure), but honestly since it's running beautifully with a controller, this looks to be purely a mouse input issue. No other games exhibit this issue other than... Helldivers 2, and Battlefield V. BF1 is butter on mouse, as are BF3 and BF4. Helldivers 2 can be fixed by turning on mouse smoothing in game. I almost bought a GPU upgrade before testing the Xbox controller, saved myself £600. Latest CM post: Hi everyone, Thanks for sharing your experiences and feedback so far. We understand this issue is especially frustrating when it impacts your ability to play smoothly with a mouse. While we’ve asked for similar information before (here), to move forward and make meaningful progress, it is absolutely essential that you provide detailed and precise information responding to the specific request below. Giving vague comments without concrete details won’t help us troubleshoot, escalate, or investigate effectively. If you’re able to, please reply directly to this post by clicking the Reply button on this post. This keeps your info neatly organised and makes it much easier for us (and the studio) to track everything. Please avoid replying to the original post or posting at the bottom of the thread, as this makes it harder for everyone to follow the conversation. Here’s what would be super helpful for us to know: Mouse mode (wired or wireless) Mouse polling rate (e.g. 1000Hz) Whether you’re using mouse software (like Razer Synapse) Where your mouse is plugged in (PC, monitor, hub, etc.) Keyboard model and connection type (wired/wireless) Keyboard polling rate Whether you’re using keyboard software Where your keyboard is plugged in Monitor model Full PC specs (CPU, GPU with driver version, RAM) Full Windows OS version (not just "Windows 11") Whether Gsync or VRR is enabled Full screen mode (fullscreen, borderless, windowed) Which platform do you play on (EA app or Steam) Any overlays active during play (Discord, EA app, Nvidia overlay, etc.) CPU and GPU usage percentages while playing Whether the issue improves with a framerate cap (e.g. 125 FPS) The more details you can share, the better we can help. We know it’s a lot to ask, but this is the only way we can ensure the right information reaches the team and move things forward. Thanks so much for your patience and for helping us out with this. We really appreciate it!Solved59KViews215likes826CommentsTime/Sim freezes while environment still moves
This is a very specific bug symptom so please only post here if you see all of the below in your game. There are many similar issues, so this should be kept to this issue only. This can either be an extreme lag or a total freeze. Symptoms in the game Time stand still although there can be a delay where time moves for a but when part of UI is frozen You can't click on anything Sims move but do interactions endlessly Environment moves If you have multiple household members, you can't switch between them. Going to the map in this state can lead to endless loading You can still switch to build mode but only delete one item. Not all households are affected. Unsure what causes it. Unsure/More info needed It start happening at a specific time Computer starts to use up a lot of the resources Not this issue Sims don't respond to commands, standing around doing nothing4.2KViews191likes121CommentsPC Controller NOT WORKING online - Why it fails and how to temporarily solve it
If you are facing problems with PC controllers and your controller does this: Works perfectly in offline: moments, squad battles, ... At online matches: rivals, tournaments works for a few seconds and suddenly stops working, you can only pass or shoot Then you have the same problem as me. Apparently its caused by some graphic or screen issue, and not by the controller. Here is a temporarily solution that "works" for me: Go to screen settings and limit your fps to 60hz and turn on VSync, this way your controller should work. I say temporarily solution because I don't find this a real solution, I hope they don't spend again 1 month without fixing this like last year. This problem is similar to last year problem that was causing stuttering, lag and fps drop when someone in the match used L1 dribbling, and it was temporarily solved by limiting fps. This should be fixed ASAP, honestly I don't want to play this game with a terrible 60 fps experience, the game looks horrible and doesn't even look like 60 fps, looks that you are playing a **bleep**ty 30fps game in 2012. I WANT TO PLAY WITH MY 165 MONITOR REFRESH RATE. If this does not get fixed it's an absolutely lame and a joke company, how can I be experimenting the same issue that I had on FC 25 (That lasted months of unplayable gameplay) ON THE RELASE DATE OF FC26! ON THE RELEASE DATEEEE!!!!!!! If you find some setting to improve this, you can share it on this postSolved84KViews188likes1222Comments
