I Don't think its fair when someone disconnects and clearly and they are disconnected in a hidden spot so i have to stay the whole game and waste time rather than just quitting without a penalty. To start, I've been playing this game since the first month of its release, and I have seen a lot of good and bad changes over the years. I'm someone who had put in over 6k hours in on the EA App alone, obtained a few Heirlooms, had bought a few event items, and even bought the Battle Pass more than once, so its not like I'm fairly new to the game, (while many players here on the forums have seen me reply to numerous threads, doing what I can to either help them, forward bugs and issues to EA/Respawn, etc., and fewer have known me long before I became a Hero on the forums). Speaking of being a Hero, I am not writing this as a Hero, rather I am writing this as a normal Apex player who wants to see the game thrive: #1 Matchmaking & Servers Whatever matchmaking Apex uses, (be it skill based, engagement based, both, etc.), it clearly has room for improvements as the matches are fairly unbalanced where you would have several weaker teams VS top-level teams. I know this as I've been playing Ranked since Season 2, where the highest rank I've achieved outside of Season 17's broken system, (where I got Masters), was Diamond, and that was during the current season, (Season 29), which brings me to what I've observed: The system allows for players to hop onto new accounts to stomp lower lobbies and even for higher ranked players to drop too far down into lower lobbies to farm kills and damage Often times when trying to play the game smart, you would get teammates who treat Ranked like its pubs, (and in pubs, these randoms would leave as soon as they are knocked) The enemy team you fight against, (no matter the mode), are somehow way better than your team, (requiring most players to carry the whole team if they wish to win) and many more issues that would take a lot of time to get into, (like how Solo Q Diamonds to Preds are all still on the same team in Plat matches) As for the servers, I'm not sure if the game needs better servers or if the game needs to run on a newer game engine, but something should be done about the lag, desync issues, etc. #2 Aim Assist & Input No matter what side you are on, (be it for Aim Assist or against, (which I'm not going to go into a discussion about that here)), the issue is players using 3rd party devices to take advantage of the Aim Assist. While Respawn has been cracking down on these devices, there is a lot to be desired as I'm still seeing players clearly abusing Titans, Zens, etc., and its a problem as it ruins the game's integrity, so it is important for the game's health to have things like this sorted out. As for the input, I think it would be better for the game to have lobbies where those on Keyboard and Mouse are in different lobbies than those on Controller unless otherwise opted in by each individual player to go up against whoever using whatever input. #3 Cheaters & Bans For this part, I won't be talking about any "false bans" as that's a whole other thing, but I will talk about the cheating issue and how bans seem to be handled. First off, when a player is found to be cheating, they aren't always taken out of the game right away, instead they are allowed to keep playing while being added to a ban wave which would wipe them out alongside a bunch of other cheaters at once. The problem with doing ban waves like that is that cheaters are allowed to cheat on multiple accounts for several hours, days, and sometimes even weeks before they are banned, and that right there ruins the game for everyone else, (which when playing Ranked, legit players are not compensated for losing matches to a cheater). This system should instead start filtering those cheating into their own lobbies where it is then cheaters going up against other cheaters until a ban wave is issued, (which playing with a cheater is cheating as well). Filtering the cheaters into their own lobbies would help strengthen the integrity of each and every match as there wouldn't be as many of them ruining the game for other players as more are taken out of public view, and the cheaters wouldn't be so quick to hop on to new accounts as they would think that they are in the clear when they are not. #4 Smurfs While Respawn allows players to play on multiple accounts, Respawn should at least consider raising the level requirements to enter Ranked as I've been seeing plenty of low level players in higher ranked lobbies. Most games, (such as Valorant), defines smurfing as being on a new account to go up against lower skilled players, which is exactly what happens when players are allowed to play on multiple accounts, and this in turn causes issues in ranked where cheaters are able to quickly return to ranked on new accounts as well. #5 Ranked Everyone has their own opinion on ranked, and as for mine, I feel like the matchmaking could be better and a higher level account should be a requirement, (as mentioned above). Besides that, I don't have a whole lot to say about ranked as most of the ideas I've thought of wouldn't work out well anyways. #6 Badges and Stats This one is simple: Rework badges to give back meaning, (like how having the 20 kills and 4k damage badges use to mean you were good at the game) Separate badges and stats between the game modes, (such as no longer allowing Wildcard to impact Battle Royal badges and stats) #7 Firing Range For this one, it would be easier to refer to an older thread I've posted since there is a lot written there as well: Firing Range QOLs | EA Forums Although parts of that thread is most likely outdated by now, (oh well). #8 Legends, Weapons & Loot Balancing Many players like to move fast, deal damage, get kills, but the movement and stun skills are out of control, legends are given scan abilities when they cannot move quickly or stop a player in their tracks, (or they are reworked in a way that doesn't fit their kit), and the weapons are either too strong, or lacking in power. To be clear, I am saying that Axel is overpowered, Seer is too much, and that other legends like Crypto and Rampart are left in the dust, while the weapon meta is spotty at best. As for loot, I think it would be better if the weapons all level up like the EVO Armor, which would remove the need to find attachments and only require players to find ammo, heals, AMPs, and explosives, while knockdown shields and backpacks can also be leveled up in the same way, (although that would mean that Loba's Golden Backpack perk would need to be reworked). In short, less looting and more playing the game. #9 Listening to Community Feedback I cannot stress this point enough, but EA/Respawn, listen to the players playing your game. If they leave, it only causes problems later down the line. The solution to this involves: Improving the matchmaking Smoothing out tensions between inputs Removing and keeping cheaters out of matches Not allowing players to ruin ranked matches on alt accounts Improving ranked, (which yes, I do know about the ranked overhaul as it is on the Apex Roadmap) Making achievements mean something again Improving game modes and provide better gameplay balancing, (which includes adding new LTMs outside of Wildcard variations, and being less focus on selling cosmetics during events) Being more transparent with changes, updates, etc. and even allow players to voice their opinions by voting on future changes, (even if the voting is just for buffs and nerfs) #10 Allow for Playtesting As far as I'm aware of, playtesting the next update of Apex is limited, although it would be beneficial for Apex to allow for more players to test updates to help provide feedback, suggestions, and to get bugs fixed before the update's release. I made a post going a lot more into detail on this topic, but here is a TLDR for it. Anyways, I've went on to think of a rework for SHEILA to make it more than just A MINIGUN, and more of a Utility Weapon. Rampart is known for making some of the famous guns in the games such as The Flatline, The Rampage, the Blueprints to The Nemesis, and of course her pride and joy, SHEILA. Rampart also helped out with upgrades to Valk with her jetpack, Aswell as Conduit with her jammers and shield generators! All this to say, Rampart loves to tinker with things and I'm just saying, SHEILA COULD USE A LITTLE TINKERING IN A FUN WAY!! Onto The Re-Work. Where it would go. What will it do. - Take away the Placeable Turret Toggle for SHEILA, and trade it for a Toggle Fire. - Make the Toggle Fire into a Jet Mode for SHEILA, allowing rampart to thrust herself in the opposite direction of where she is shooting using her Ult. (Think of the April Fools Event with the "insane kickback") - Make the Toggle Fire take 3-8 bullets per shot. - The Jet Mode will take a few bullets before it can fully "take off". - Make this "Rework" a Purple Armor Upgrade! (If it's too much for being just a base kit.) - Adjust the speed of her thrust to be less of an issue as it was in the "April Fools Event" (at the time you could fly so high into the sky you were like a speck lol) One of Rampart's Key Problems is her Setup Time. What I mean by this is her barriers take time to build up, her Sheila needs time to rev up. I wanted to keep that as an intended weakness as Rampart would still need to not only swap to select fire but also burn fuel to start gaining momentum. in this time a player could possibly shoot out Rampart while she is flying and could end up being a free down if the Rampart plays it wrong. So, this would still hold true to rampart needing time to get effect. You could say use "Ramped Up" and you have Sheila covered on setup time, however "Rebuild Module" is honestly just better by every means. With that being said. having this rework be a replacement, or even a combination of the "Ramped Up" upgrade would be an amazing addition to her upgrade system. Aswell as giving "Rebuild Module" a run for its money. Rampart with this upgrade will now need to be more mindful of how much she is burning with SHEILA, and would cause Rampart to be out of bullets for her Ult. Also making rampart more reliant on ultimate accelerants. Why I think this should be in the game, and my personal thoughts. Ive started playing Apex at the start of Season 9 and played almost religiously Rampart since then. Through all the buffs she has received has been an AMAZING improvement, but I don't think it's what Rampart has truly in shop for everyone. - As a controller class, I tend to find that Rampart fits the role of being an Anchor for the team more than a "lock down that building!". Sure, she CAN do that. Certain scenarios require it! But I'm talking about the situations where it's an open field, and its medium-low cover. You would tend to try and build a perimeter with barriers to allow breathing room for the team to so they can actually gain damage and not have us be sitting ducks behind a rock. Moving the barriers from place to place as time goes on and constantly making sure to refresh the barriers as you continue. Rampart having this ability to set up what I'll call "Pivot Points" allows for her and her team to have multiple angles on enemies that need to be destroyed in order for you to get rid of them. Giving Rampart a tool to allow herself to reposition herself back to her team when caught making "Pivot Points" would open a new door to what you can do with rampart as a whole! if the random octane decides to full speed inside the fight, rampart can use her ult to catch up, (-72-98 bullets later) you get my point. -Why would you NOT wanna be able to Adam Smasher someone in a game like Apex Legends. (Yes I'm talking about that one scene in the Cyberpunk Anime, iykyk). Think of it, you fly up using the thruster, swap back to minigun mode, then beam the player on the way down while they try to beam you out of the sky. THAT WOULD BE SO SIIIICCCKKK!! (I HAVE 2 CLIPS OF DOING THIS WITH AXLE'S ULT ITS SO FUNNY) -IT WOULD BE AN AMAZING TIME TO GIVE RAMPART HER HEIRLOOM(MYTHIC) SKIN, Aswell as giving Sheila skins for rampart entirely! - New Weapon Technically. - More ppl playing a character who sits at a .7% pick rate. -Rampart would DEFINITLY do this. you can't tell me I'm wrong. Where I would test this. Worlds Edge has been my personal FAVORITE map to play rampart on, and i think this would be a perfect map to get a look on where to properly place the flying mechanic in terms of speed, velocity, how long you can fire for, etc.. E-District i also think would be a great contender cause i do get a feeling it was a map designed to try and keep rampart in mind. Seer has been nerfed since I started playing, and now Seer is buffed again.😵 First, I don’t know if the designers have played this game; they don’t know how frustrating that season was back then, and now they’re repeating the same mistakes.😓 In a match, you literally can't move or walk, you can only stand there dumbly getting hit. There's basically nowhere to hide during this hero's ultimate. Are you trying to see all 19 teams being seers in an official match?No team stepped up to fight, or several teams kept using skills to hit and silence at the same time.🤡 The gameplay experience since the version update has been really bad, to the point where I don't even feel like opening the game anymore. It's not that I'm particularly scared of this hero, it's just that this hero ruins my gaming experience. I was playing a rank game, we hot drop at lightning rod I think near Zeus station in stormpoint. My teammate lands on the same pill as me so I leave looking for another gun there's enemies all around I go to the arsenal there's someone there. I run and drop to lower buildings, there's people there already. I run into the lower building on south side. I find an eva, teammates both get knocked so as loba I'm gonna get out and save our RP with a reset elsewhere. I throw my bracelet across the chasm. I can see it will make it I turn and see enemies rushing I'm watching them and trigger the bracelet to go down because surely it should be on the other side by now. I wait and wait and wait because it was just shy I turn to look I'm still doing the point down animation. I need to leave and can't wait so I jump to grab the zip line across. I'm still doing the animation so don't grab zipline... So I lose 96 rp instead of the 48. Why? Because you think I'm griefing my teammates but I was doing everything I could to keep the game alive for us but you don't allow me to cancel bracelet so I have to wait thirty years for it to recognize oh it can't go there. I am a big fan of OG period where gun skills were 80-90 pc with help of character abilities 10-20pc making a very good experience and making Apex an excellent hero shooters. It did not matter much which character you picked, it was fun anyway. The abilities brought spice ans uniqueness. Now, reliance on meta and abilities is too much. Latest Valk, Axle meta and now AGAIN Seer is too much. It ruins the experience. It has become a pure Heroes vs Villain game where gun skills matter much less. Proposed way forward: introduce back an OG mode introduce character ban voting at beginning of match especially for Rank (eg like Brawl Stars Ranked) nerf characters only to balance meta from this point onwards until you reach a good balance of gun fight vs character abilities Stop buffing characters based on pick rate. Seer was well where he was. I played him a few times last season and it was fun as it was the only Seer in Lobby. Now we have 20. See what you have done.55Views4likes6Comments
