Up the Us Promoted to the football league in 1950, Colchester United have spent all but two seasons in the bottom two divisions, bouncing between the third and fourth tiers on a regular basis. However, calamity struck in season 1989-90, when they were relegated to the Conference, where they stayed for two seasons before roaring back with a Conference and FA Trophy double, under ex-player Roy McDonough. Fifteen years of subsequent see-sawing between the bottom two tiers ended with jubilation for Us fans, as they finished second in League 1 to local rivals Southend United at the end of the 2005-6 season, to join their Essex rivals in the Championship for the first and only time. Manager Phil Parkinson thus assumed legendary status with fans but then ruined it by leaving the club for ‘bigger club’ fellow Championship side Hull City before a ball had even been kicked. Later that season, the fans would get their revenge for what they saw as betrayal, after Parkinson was sacked by Hull City, following defeat to the Us in the league. The first season in the Championship, under Parkinson’s replacement, Geraint Williams, saw the Us attain their highest-ever season finish of 10th in the second tier. They spent a number of weeks towards the end of the season flirting with the promotion play-off places, only to miss out late on. The key to their success that season was the cramped, decaying Layer Road stadium, which ‘bigger clubs’ simply did not like visiting, and a number of scalps were claimed that season. Some years before, to stave off financial ruin, the club had sold the ground to the council for housing, and now the council were building a new, 10,000 seater stadium next to the A12 trunk road to London, with the intention of filling it every match in the Championship. It was even constructed with the ability to fill in the corners, raising the capacity to 15,000 (although this has never happened), as fans, club and council got over-excited at the prospect of sustaining the club’s new-found tier two status. However, before they got the chance to star in the new council-owned ground, they suffered ‘second season’ syndrome, and finished bottom of the Championship in 2007-2008. A few years of respectable finishes in League 1 came to an end when the owner reduced his own personal funding to the first team, in the wake of new FFP rules, and, having one of the smallest attendance records in the football league, financial gravity saw the Us drop to the bottom tier. The last three seasons have seen a constant battle against relegation from the football league, and fan resentment at the owner they claim has overseen this decline. Until recently, the owner had favoured ‘promotions from within’, from the backroom, for a succession of managers who simply did not make their mark on the team. However, with the appointment of brothers Danny and Nicky Cowley as the management team, there are hopes that a new beginning may happen. Cowleys to the Rescue The Essex-born Cowleys have had success elsewhere, most notably as managers of what were at the time Conference side Lincoln City, who they not only eventually led to League 1 but also famously beat then-Premier League side Burnley in the 5th round of the FA Cup as a non-league side, en route to a quarter-final defeat to the mighty Arsenal at the Emirates. Further roles at Huddersfield and Portsmouth led finally to this new job back in Essex, where they had previously managed non-league sides Concord Rangers and Braintree Town before their Lincoln stint. The fans are hoping that the Cowleys’ far more professional approach to team management will reap dividends, take the club away from the bottom of the division and maybe even some distance back up the pyramid. The Cowleys will need to work with a tight budget, as the owner continues to focus his spending mainly on infrastructure – coaches, etc. – and the promotion of talent from the academy. The squad does have a number of promising youngsters, notably Samson Tovide, Noah Chilvers and Bradley Ihionvien, hoping to follow in the footsteps of the academy’s currently best-known product, the Championship’s current top scorer Sammie Szmodics. We pick up the story in July, with the Cowleys appointing a number of first team coaches and hiring new youth scouts.
Founding Members Will Rise Again "Arte Et Labore"
Established in 1875 and home being Ewood Park since 1890 Blackburn Rovers was a Founding Member of The Football League in 1888. They had won 5 FA Cups before the 20th Century had started and won their first League Title in 1911-12 then again 2 seasons later. They would then have to wait until the 1994-95 season before their next league Title win. Blackburn were also a founding member of the newly formed Premier League when they gained promotion via the playoffs in 1992 after a Local Businessman had taken over the year before and who was responsible for bringing in Kenny Dalglish as a Manager who lead the club to that Premier League Title. Unfortunately for Blackburn their time at the top didn't last long and were relegated just 4 years later. Rejoining the Premier League and spending another 11 consecutive years whilst winning The Carabao Cup in that time they soon found themselves down to the Third tier of English Football in 2017. They bounced back up and have remained in The Championship since and the past 2 seasons have just missed out on a spot in The Playoffs. They haven't had a fantastic start to the 2023/24 season and the club have decided to act quickly and made a drastic decision to part ways with Manager Jon Dahl Tomasson by mutual consent. Where do Blackburn go from here? It's rumoured they are going for a young inexperienced manager unknown by anyone. Some consider this to be a huge risk whilst others believe it could work as the pressure is off. The Club have come out and said they have ambition, but their first priority is rescuing this season and hopefully resurrecting a push towards the top. Two big names left in the summer who had been vital to Blackburn's recent pushes for the promotion. The loss of Bradley Dack to Championship Rivals Sunderland on a free transfer was a big blow and the departure of Ben Brereton Díaz was anticipated for some time with many Premier Clubs interested, but the Chilean International headed to Spain with Villarreal also on a free transfer was a bitter pill for the fans. There have been plenty of new arrivals but things haven't clicked yet. After watching their Lancashire Rivals Burnley get Relegated and return immediately back to The Premier League makes the determination and ambition stronger to catch them up. Unfortunately EA have decided not to follow the real life fixtures lost like they did before last year but hopefully will still be in a similar position to what they are now. Manager Career Mode issues (compiled)
Thought having a compilation thread as such would make it easier for EA (if they can be bothered after spending most of the year fixing/changing/improving Ultimate Team) to review, ones I've picked up so far: Matchday experience: Removing of the pre-match team line ups, cutscenes, music etc Substitute benches should be 9 players, not 7 Wrong manager sometimes being followed on the new Manager Cam New commentary team unavailable in Career Mode Teams always shoot the same way (option to choose needed) Some kits not available in Customise screen (Tottenham 3rd kit for example) Referee POV cam - when red card is issued the referee shows a yellow card AI puts players out of position regularly At half time sometimes there is a cutscene loop which you can't escape so have to restart the game Teams should shoot towards a preferred end in the second half when at home (Chelsea towards 'The Shed', Arsenal towards 'The Clock End', Tottenham towards the 'Park Lane/South Stand' etc etc After match let us see results of other games in the league for longer General: The length of career mode is set too short overall still Date disappeared from main landing page in Career Mode Coaches causing a freeze/crash when fired The training plan (sharpness/fitness) doesn't work well Pre/Post-Match interviews still ask irrelevant questions Manager objectives are unreasonable and unrealistic and can get you fired even when playing well Ten Hag's face is missing despite being in Fifa 23 (Postecoglou face also not real yet but may be as new to Premier League) When winning German Supercup in manager overview it says "final" instead of "winner" The Dutch & Portuguese Supercups are missing (may be others too) Kit sponsors are missing in some countries Supercups are not counted in number of trophies won in Manager Overview Generated youth players have a 2D picture with the wrong kit on Shirt sleeve sponsors incorrect when promoted/relegated in English Premier League/EFL Championship (also when winning cup competitions) PlayStyles too rare on Youth Players (may not be any) "Let the training plan do its work" email comes too regularly and is unnecessary Number of characters available when editing a stadium name has been reduced and is way too low Editing a players sleeve length doesn't always work Create a club - can't use the new kit options in Clubs Create a club - selecting a rival should let you pick from any league, not just the one you start in Players complain about not playing enough when their role is 'Sporadic' Players complain about not playing when they are out injured Loaned in players get constant complaints if they don't play every minute in emails from parent club No option to see how many minutes our loaned out players are getting No option to turn off the objectives as they can ruin the mode Player morale can drop too much in one go from Press Conference answers AI teams should player weakened squads in certain competitions (early rounds of Carabao Cup for example) When simming there seem to be far too many goals late in the game if you start to sim from a comfortable position (ie. 3-0) Youth academy names are way too limited and repetitive Custom tactical visions are penalised permanently Players being subbed late into games handing in transfer requests Two Hummel kits are identical in Create-A-Club No new badges in Create-A-Club and some even removed Option to save an avatar to re-use again in another save Long sleeves don't work on Nike/Puma kits Morale system doesn't work - too many players get unhappy to easily Transfers: Not been improved/changed for years Can be really hard to sell low-rated players when a high rated team No loan options such as mandatory purchases AI making unrealistic transfers regularly After a few seasons AI not signing big enough squads AI sign too many players in the same position Sometimes when offer accepted a random background of the pitch is shown during the cutscene When signing a player it's impossible to negotiate a lower squad role Music cuts out in cutscenes Players signing pre-contracts will join in the winter transfer window (gamebreaker) Skip cutscene for players signing/leaving needs implementing Sign players on one-year contract but can't negotiate another year so teams sign them on pre-contracts and I don't have options During contract renewal, players never want an extension Please do add as many as you can to this thread and I'll try to make an effort to update this if possible!
Incorrect Playoff Rewards
Edit 26/04: There are reports once more of teams not receiving the correct playoff rewards. If you've encountered this issue, please report it in this thread. FYI: If you reply to this thread, please ensure you follow the guidelines below in order to avoid the thread getting locked - https://answers.ea.com/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category-id/faq-user-guidelines Creating this thread to highlight the significant issues that have plagued the Pro Clubs community during this Season's playoffs. Numerous clubs, including ours, have experienced matches not registering for the playoffs, despite being listed in our calendars. Our team alone had 6 matches go uncounted, a problem echoed by many other clubs reporting at least 5+ matches failing to register. Now that the playoffs have finished, we're seeing that playoff rewards are also bugged. Clubs are being awarded for being "0th", and I'm seeing teams who went 20-0 only being awarded the "Participant" rewards, when they should be receiving the top 1% rewards. A quick glance at this forum or a browse through the r/fifaclubs subreddit reveals a multitude of posts underlining these issues. We urgently request an acknowledgment of these issues from EA. The game mode is now all geared towards the playoffs, so if these issues aren't resolved, it's no longer worth playing. Edit: It appears that there are still ongoing issues, now affecting regular league matches. Numerous reports of matches ending in errors and games not being counted. Still no sign of clubs receiving the correct playoff rewards. Edit2: Matches are now counting again but no confirmation regarding playoff rewards as of yet. ENJOY THE STORY! Season 2: 2024-2025 starts HERE To quickly catch up, go through this regularly updated Wikipedia-page. Daniel Marzec is a semi-fictional, semi-truthful character. Most of up to 2018 is 'real life me' - then it becomes mostly fiction. Not long ago on May 14th 2022, DSC ARMINIA BIELEFELD drew 1:1 against RB Leipzig in the 34th and final round of the 2021/22 Bundesliga. A mere 14 months later on July 23th 2023, that same team from Bielefeld will have to kick of the 2023/24 3.Liga, having fallen right through the 2.Bundesliga during the 2022/23 season. THE YO-YO CLUB Having won the 2019/20 2.Bundesliga, DSC Arminia became the team to secure the most promotions into the German Bundesliga, tying with Der Klub 1.FC Nürnberg at eight. Having to play on the 3rd level of German football only three years later, shows clearly why Arminia Bielefeld is also referred to as The Yo-yo Club: the team moves up and down the German football ladder. In the 21st century alone, Deutscher Sport Club Arminia has spent 8 seasons in Bundesliga, 12 seasons in 2.Bundesliga, while the upcoming season is their fourth at the 3rd level. In theory Bielefeld ought to be big enough to host a Bundesliga team, or at least a team that swings up and down first and second tier: Arminia plays in the 18th largest city of Germany and the largest of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL) region. The OWL-region is part of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), the most populated state in Germany with cities such as Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Essen, Duisburg, Bochum, Wuppertal, Bielefeld in 8th, former West-German capital Bonn and Münster - all cities with 300,000 or more residents. In that last city, we find Arminia's biggest rival Preußen, who also play in 3.Liga this season. The opening game of the season however, Arminia faces SC Verl, the club geographically closest to them as the two are only 18 km (or, a bit over 10 miles) apart. BIELEFELD BOLD: ARMINIA goes for AUFSTIEG (promotion) Daniel Marzec is appointed new head coach at The Arminians. For the 41-year old (September 5th 1981) it's his first job at a professional football team, having served only as youth coach at Wisla Kraków and Ajax Amsterdam before. His main task is a steep one: both the board as well as the stakeholders demand an immediate return to next season's 2.Bundesliga. "The club has a stadium and budget, big enough to comfortably play a level higher: it's where we belong, the new manager has to take us there!" Under Marzec, his youth teams often have played a fluid form where the attack ends up with a striker supported by wingers on both sides. This wing play-type tactic has a 4-3-3 as a foundation, but can easily move into a form of 3-4-3 when attacking, or 5-2-3 when defending. The new manager's main challenge is to mold a team out of a nearly total squad of newcomers: prior to the signing of Marzec, DSC Arminia has bought an entirely new squad. Six youth players were promoted, six players have come in for a single season on loan; all others come from different clubs, 15 players in total. The only remaining senior player that played for Arminia last year in 2022/23 2.Bundesliga is Fabian Klos (35). The striker has been playing at the club since 2011 and is indispensable as crucial striker, main goalscorer and captain of this side during what is probably the last year of his career.

I created players in game settings and added them in the teams etc., but when I played like a 1 year of the career thy changed appearance, position, rating, etc. and if I want to search for them it shows me two different players wtih the same appearance, but when I click on one it shows me nothing. How can I fix/prevent the player to get changed (appearance, etc.) and have there only the correct one ?The game crashes when trying to renew the contract in player career mode.
I've played until the end of the season, got the option to renew the contract, I sign, but when the loading screen for the new season appears the game freezes and crashes. I reloaded the save countless times with the same outcome, it crashed every time. Literally unplayable...
