Offensive AI need a major buff.
Everything in this game is back assward. The defensive AI perfectly watch the lanes while your offensive ai just stand there soon as you pass to them it’s an interception. Not to mention it feels like we are playing defence without sticks because we don’t have a poke check. Everyone makes a pass here and there and skates with one player trying to take it to the net or spam d2d. The super Mario let the pass go through needs to be deleted from the game. Like I’m literally trying to pass to that guy. It’s just a terrible tuner the game could be fun but feels like we just control little bits of it while the ai plays for us.Feedback regarding goalies and gameplay logic in NHL 26
Hey guys, I mainly play Franchise Mode, and I wanted to share a few observations that I hope can be passed along to the developers. First of all, considering that it’s already April and we’re probably only about half a year away from the release of NHL 27, I’m not really expecting any major updates or fixes for NHL 26 at this point. So please take this more as general feedback and suggestions for improvement for the next installment. Goalie mask variety within the same team Why do most goalies on the same team use identical masks? When there’s a goalie change during a game and the broadcast camera shows them passing each other, they often look almost identical except for the name and number on the jersey. Goalie puck-handling and situational awareness Goalies feel quite passive and “unintelligent” when it comes to interacting with the puck and helping their teammates. For example, during a power play, if the opposing team clears the puck into my defensive zone, in real hockey the goalie will often skate out to intercept it and quickly move it to a teammate to help maintain offensive pressure. In NHL 26 the goalie usually just stays in the crease and watches the puck go by. Only rarely will they go behind the net to play it. Similarly, when the puck is loose near the crease, real goalies will often cover it to stop play or poke it away from danger. In the game they usually just stand there and watch the puck unless a skater interacts with it. Improving goalie awareness and puck-handling decisions would make the gameplay feel much more realistic. Line changes after icing Another gameplay detail that feels unrealistic is what happens after icing. When I ice the puck, the opposing team should have the opportunity to change lines and put fresh players on the ice. In the game, however, the AI often keeps the same exhausted players on the ice instead of taking advantage of the situation. In real hockey teams almost always use an icing situation to send out a fresh line, so it feels strange when the AI doesn’t do this. Again, I understand that NHL 26 might already be late in its cycle, but hopefully this kind of feedback can be useful for improving NHL 27. Personally, I’d really like to see more attention to gameplay details and realism in the next release, especially since recent NHL titles have felt very similar from year to year. I have been frustrated for the last few iterations of the game with regards to the way the Operations Budget works. I understand the concept is to give different a challenge with regards to the Owner Personality and how that impacts the budget. But, the amount of money you get to Upgrade and Maintain your facility, for example, if you have an Owner Personality with 1 Star for Spending means you will NEVER be able to maintain your facility and you will always have sub-60 Fan Happiness. There are owners in real life who are cheap as hell so I wouldn't want to remove the challenge of managing a stingy owner as a President. However, it is time to allow us to set the budget for each arm of the Operations Budget. I should get a total budget and then be able to set how much of the budget I want to set for Coaching, Scouting, Promotions, Scout Travel and Arena Operations. Give us a way of being able to actually manage the budget of a team that has a stingy owner.Whats The Point Of Report System?
Just wanted to know what’s the point of this system if no action is being taken upon? Most recently I played against a club who I can’t name but these guys have been using very inappropriate and illegal player names. They have backup accounts and clubs and keep doing the same. Unfortunately these individuals are junior hockey players which makes it even more upsetting. The amount of racism, and other things too NSFW makes me absolutely sick. I have tweeted them out to the devs and our producer… nothing has been done about them.
Today's HUT interface lag
The HUT interface is particularly slow today. Any navigation through the interface can cause a loading delay of a couple of minutes—a preloader with a blank screen appears for a couple of minutes, then the interface comes back to life for a few minutes, and the lag repeats.Broken HUT inventory
It seems the inventory in HUT, if you can call it that, is broken. Player cards and collectibles I've earned can randomly disappear and reappear. For example, I received six Game Breaking collectibles and tried to trade them for player 95, but they weren't selectable. After a while, they appeared. This behavior often occurs when trading sets in TOTS: cards appear, then disappear. Auto Fill also sometimes doesn't work, although manually selecting cards from your collection works. I think this started with the TOTS event, but it might be related to the hidden Grudge Match tasks. Also, Inbox sometimes shows that there is something in it, but when you try to open it, it shows a message that it is empty. Or, after adding a card to one set, that card remains available for another set. For example, I added the Josi 86 card to the Spurgeon 90 Captain's Set, but the same card is still available for selection in the Exchange Set for 88-89.Stingy with Apples
I play BAP almost exclusively with a little Franchise sprinkled in here and there. Anyone who plays Be a Pro probably agrees that getting points-goals and assists- is critical to your progression, and too much so. That being said, it makes it even more frustrating when it feels like the game is a bit stingy when awarding assists. I’ll make a beautiful feed to Bedard or Debrincat only to have them mishandle the biscuit or get robbed by the tender. That is acceptable, but what is frustrating is that many times the puck will go in but we get the “he put the puck into his own net” outcome and the goal goes unassisted. I’ve been a rabid hockey fan for going on fifty years and have a decent understanding of the rules, lol. It’s just frustrating when you do everything right and the game does its quirky thing and you get robbed of a precious point. It simply happens too often imo.
Why? What Happened To The Game?
Thought I would post because I’m curious as to why the series releases games that aren’t fully functional? I play mostly Franchise mode and have had numerous issues with the game randomly freezing and dashboarding me. All that time wasted for nothing? Many other bugs in this game that probably won’t be fixed until like NHL 29… As of now the QOL features are sustainable and I find myself losing interest. BAP would be great if it wasn’t all about scoring goals and the form score is quite annoying. Other problems we can’t play a full junior season like back in NHL 20 and previous games. Drop-in 6’s have turned into a waiting simulator and it’s boring having to play outdoors and use casual same generic clothing not being able to select teams. Hut has turned into an LT pressure exploiting gong show and it’s getting worse. I was curious as to why gameplay and these features are so minimal. I heard EA NHL team was small like 20-30 people. So after reviewing credits of this game there were over 200 development members working on this? I know bigger games that use way more development which are release earlier than the NHL series who have less team members? So question is why are we given such a low grade half finished game for such an expensive price? Heck this game isn’t even on Gamepass yet which sadly it should be. It feels like a scam and the fact Microsoft won’t give me a refund really makes me feel duped. Hoping NHL 27 is better but I don’t understand why NHL 26 can’t be fixed? Who cares if devs have to put servers offline for a couple days or a week even. At least the game would be playable!
We need bans and suspensions
Why is it that in EVERY other game, there is a report for griefing option and subsequent penalties for destroying games and wasting peoples time. This is an embarrassment. It feels like nearly half of drop ins are ruined by goalies purposely leaving the net to get scored on, players purposely scoring on their own goalies to get them to quit, taking interference penalties on cooldown, teammates getting into screaming matches and acting like children. All of this with NO punishment, no auto detection, not even a report system. Please work on this, I promise you there are players who have stopped playing because they are solos and have no other option but get their EASHL games ruined and their time wasted. You're losing money because of these people ruining matches.
UNSOLICITED ADVICE!!!
i don't know who needs to hear this, but here goes: i've played every iteration of this game since NHLPA 93. watched it evolve over time to where it is today. I'm going to give you some unsolicited advice for the 3v3 and 6v6 Chel Club players out there: if you go down by multiple goals EARLY just back out. just quit at that moment. Don't stick around to get pounded into the net. it is not worth it. TIME IS YOUR ONLY REAL CURRENCY. why waste that precious commodity to get pulverized by people who spend Way Too Much Time Playing This Game (no offense. it's your life, if you want to spend it playing this game, be my guest!). YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO STAY IN GAMES! who cares about backout/quitting penalties? who cares about your club rank? aren't we here to ENJOY THE GAME WE SPENT MONEY TO PLAY????? go find a matchup you can actually ENJOY! go find an opponent who is on your level BECAUSE EA WON'T DO IT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! until they fix matchmaking it is up to you to Have A Good Time. Just last night, my club went down in a game within 10 minutes 4-0 and we all said "nah. let's back out" AND THEN WE WENT ON A TEAR AND WON A BUNCH OF FUN GAMES!!!!!! tl;dr IT IS UP TO YOU TO MONITOR THE MATCHMAKING SITUATION. I have enjoyed NHL 26 but here are some things I think would greatly improve the game: -Even with slider adjustments the goalies cover the puck way too often. Make it so the game keeps flowing and the puck isn't covered every time the goalie catches the puck. -line changing shouldn't be so difficult. The arrow will change from one door to the other constantly when you skate to the bench. Once you skate to the designated area there should be a button to press to hop out -in be a pro energy gets depleted way too quickly and effects the attributes way too much. I like the realism but tone it down a little. I have had to spend 90% of my attribute points to replenish energy instead of into the players abilities -overall the sliders don't effect the game enough. Even setting the goalie to cover the puck at 0 they will cover it all the time. Make each slider adjustment have more actual effect on the game. Madden has mastered this so you can make incremental adjustments to make the game more fun/realistic to the players preferences.
