Re: [PS4/XB1] Updating Graphics Settings Message

I even found myself looking for the series X again because of all the problems I'm having. But then I took a week long break from the Sims and added a bunch of other games to my series S. Finally I can actually enjoy using it, without bugs or crashes. I can play games as they are meant to be played and I'm really happy with my console. I've added 6 games now that have absolutely no problems loading or playing and the graphics aren't causing any issues, no crashing, no bother.

I know it's updated this week and I've not even played it I'm so disillusioned.

It has to do with the graphics you guys.. us console players don’t have the option to raise or lower the graphic and control the graphic settings like PC players. When that messages appears that’s says it’s adjusting your graphics, it actually does change the graphics, it’s makes them weaker and less desirable. I had come to the point of not minding it because it usually allows my game to run smoothly.. from build to live mode and even traveling from lot to lot. We on console need the option to adjust the graphic settings manually, because whatever they have them set at is not compatible with our gaming systems, but as I stated I had come to not even mind the message appearing to adjust the settings even with the bad graphics and all as it actually allows me to play and save my game for hours on end. However, I wish we knew who to contact about add the graphic settings to the option menu because we definitely need it as it would cure a lot of the issues we are having.

@tinronney1234 Unfortunately for anyone on Xbox Series S like myself, the current situation is that the Series X is being prioritised but graphics aren't being optimised for our console. It's not only frustrating but it's starting to feel a little insulting since we pay the exact same price for Sims content so should have the same experience, or at least certainly not an inferior one. Series X has been impossible to get in my area since it's release. But I'm actually happy with my Series S...when playing other games as that's the only time I get the full benefits of the excellent graphics quality.
I still have a next gen console, but this move makes me feel as if they are saying I bought a lesser, second rate console, which I don't feel is true or fair. I've bought about 50 packs and am pretty angry that I don't get the same treatment as players with other consoles. We were already behind PCs in terms of priority, but now I feel even further down the pecking order.

@Rachelharris31 I'm glad you told me that as I can stop feeling like I have to upgrade my console. After learning that Series S wasn't going to be given any priority but Series X was I've felt really pressured to get Series X to enjoy all of my Sims content fully.
I'm sorry for anyone on Series X that is having problems though as I know the expense and difficulty involved in obtaining one (at least where I am from).
Thanks, you just saved me from possibly throwing good money after bad!

@simsplayer818 No problem its the same for ps5 so dont waste your money just for one game when other games look great on next gen a few of us next gen players have been asking for a next gen upgrade on twitter but we get ignored.

Yes.. I seen the PS5 thread too, we on consoles need the graphic setting in options like the PC players have. Like when you think about it, it’s really crazy we don’t have that option. Not to mention how EA/Maxis are still selling and promoting a game for all console variations but don’t even have a team in setup in office geared toward the console consumers issues. I was actually fine with it adjusting the settings everytime I play my game because it actually allows me to play it, but has really frustrated me again. Like who do we contact? We need to make more noise about the situation.. we all need to head to twitter and get at the gurus or even try to get some of the popular YouTubers to cover this situation because they really are being insulting about it.

Oh okay, I see… it’s not enough of us complaining ultimately and it’s not really a known issue across the whole Sims community so I see why they try to ignore us, I’m gonna start to try to reach out to a couple of YouTubers that does Sims content and see will they consider doing a quick few min video about it maybe just to start to shed more light on the situation. I’ll break it all down as best I can to show why it’s really an issue and unfair.

@Rachelharris31 It's difficult to put pressure on them to do something now when we've already spent the money. I've got no leverage over them now with adding most packs, I could kick myself sometimes. I added the most recent bandicoot game and as each new world loaded I was absolutely stunned by the sheer quality of the graphics, it's absolutely beautiful. This was after a year of playing Sims on the same console with sometimes jittery and shadowed images plus the annoying message that can crash my game altogether.
I think I tolerate a lot of broken stuff for my 20 year love of the Sims, I know I'm not the only one. Microsoft are aware of playability issues as I've spoken to them and they said that new consoles don't really make a difference to how the Sims runs. So maybe at some point it will be resolved.
But I find myself saying that a lot on here!!!

It was so disheartening to buy a brand new console last year and have this issue. Surely they must be looking into it. I expected it to be a temporary issue while it was a new console but it's not new anymore. I can't believe it's still such a problem, in fact it sounds like it's affecting more consoles.

@simsplayer818 Yes I have a Xbox series X and it is still a problem. My Xbox one stop working on me. So I got a new console last year. Now this message pops up.

@EMMS2025 it's really not acceptable at all. If I'd managed to track down an Xbox Series X (couldn't get one anywhere) I'd be absolutely fuming to still have this happen. Initial chatter said that it didn't happen on Series X but clearly that was misinformed. But we shouldn't have to rely on chatter and commiserating with each other or trying to figure it out ourselves because we should be getting active engagement from the ones that can fix it.
We pay the same price for our content so I don't know why we aren't treated equally. All I can think is that maybe the creative team isn't balanced in terms of PC and console devotees. It's just a guess on my part.

@simsplayer818 We pay MORE than PC users!!! They get awesome sales and they also get pick your own bundles … which cuts the cost back enormously. It’s very disheartening

@MamaRockit I did not know about the bundles! I just thought theirs were like ours.
I used to play on PC but I kept having hardware problems so it's been years since I switched exclusively to console. I used to go between PlayStation/Xbox and PC for Sims 2 and 3. Now I'm Xbox exclusive.
There are a lot of players talking about the disparity between the two platforms so maybe they'll hear us.
I'm really irritated now I know about those bundles though as I often buy a few add-ons at a time but usually on sale. I've got over 50. Right now I'm having to take a break for the bugs and after the update I crashed after a few mins just in build mode.
  • I have this issue as well, although not as bad thankfully (knock on wood)

The game is super buggy and it started after I bought more packs (including Cottage Living)

EA needs to stop pushing new content and focus on optimizing what they already sold millions of people...

It's pretty sad that modders for PC can do better what they obviously don't care to do.

I was going to recommend some advice to help it run smoother but we shouldn't have to turn settings off or disable content that we paid for just to have a Mediocre gaming experience. Don't need a DEV saying it's a solution because I've seen that elsewhere (and people settle)

Want something done people have to stop accepting beans when they make enough money to atleast give us a proper meal for what we paid for. No other game that I am aware of costs in the thousands to play that isn't properly managed.

The transparency is a massive red flag, I could go on and on and on.

    Ggreetings !

First i want to say : I am very grateful for your persistent engagement !!

I read  a lot about the country-living as a trigger in the posts ...

... so i remember the first time this "we had to fix your graphic ..."-screen shows up in my "Sims-storyline" was while i played on a fully packed plot (2mB), i downloaded, which uses country-living.

This plot also causes game crashes every time i want to leave it ! (and more)

But this "... graphics..."- screen gets to show up more often, the longer i play this "storyline" , and becomes worse , at the end : the texture keep blure more just by leaving the plot !

I thought, my "storyline" - i had played for years - accumulate to much digital waste and mistakes.

Nothing i tried help (tv-options did not too) , at the end i decided to delete everything depeding to this "storyline" off my Profile.

So i started a fresh gameline , till now :     no     " ... oh ... We had to adjust your graphicsetting ...so you can go on playing sims4... ".     (- what a joke !!! >exactly this makes the game   unplayable !)
