    @steamycoffe

    Your graphics driver is more than 4 years old. Please visit nvidia.com to upgrade. Then test the game.

  • It helped out a bit, actually. My computer isn't crashing anymore and that black background isn't there so thanks a lot! But now the game crashes at the same spot all the time, when loading to cas and when entering the menu to choose a world. I deleted my files since maybe they might be corrupt but i didn't help.

    @steamycoffe  When you say you deleted your files, do you mean the Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts?  If not, please move that folder to the desktop and test the game.  You don't need to delete the folder or its contents; moving it will prevent the game from loading that data.

    If that doesn't help, please clear Origin's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

    and repair the game: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  Then try to play again.

    If you get another crash, please post a new dxdiag.

    I deleted my saved file, sorry if I wasn't clear with that. But I attempted everything you told me to do: I moved my folder to my desktop, tested the game and it crashed. Then I tried removing the Origin's cache and repairing the game and I could play for a while, I even made a family and all but then, soon after I entered the lot with my family, the game crashed again. I repaired the game again (idk, just in case) but it crashed again ;_;

    So here's my new dxdiag

    @steamycoffe  Please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files.  Here's how:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

    Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

    Disable Game Mode and Game Bar as well, both listed under Windows Settings > Gaming.

    If that doesn't help, please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the Nvidia graphics driver.  Here's how:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

    But instead of using the latest Nvidia driver, try one from April or May.  You can find slightly older drivers here:

    Before answering, I have to say sorry. I had to go somewhere where there was no Wi-Fi. Sorry for not having answered.

    But now I'm back and I tried all the PowerShell things and this is the message I got. I'll do the others things you told me to do.

    Ok so I tried uninstalling my graphics driver and installing those you told me. I tried first with the April one and it crashed, but I was able to play for like 15 minutes. Then I did the same thing: I uninstalled it and replaced it with the May one, I played for a while, and then, after I clicked a random townie, it crashed again after playing for 30 minutes or so. What should I do?

    @steamycoffe  Don't worry about the late reply.  However, since it's been a little while, I'd like to see a new dxdiag.

    Please also upload a crash dump.  Click Windows key-R and copy and paste this:

    %LocalAppData%\CrashDumps

    When you enter, you'll see a list of .dmp files.  If one of them is from Sims 4 or Origin, please upload it to a third-party filehosting site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and link it here.  If you see a crash dump that was written at exactly the time the game crashed, I'd like that too.  But in either case, please only upload files from after we started troubleshooting here.

    If there is no Sims 4 .dmp file, you can enable them:

    • Hit the Windows key, type "command prompt" in the box, right-click on Command Prompt in the search results, and select Run as Administrator
    • In the window, paste "reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\devenv.exe" /v DumpType /d 2 /t REG_DWORD" without the outside quotes into the box, and enter
    • Launch Sims 4 and wait for it to crash (whether you can play at all or not)
    • After it crashes, wait for any crash dialogs to finish
    • Then hit Windows key-R and paste "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" without quotes into the box, and enter
    • Upload the last .dmp file to a free filesharing site and link it here
    • When you want to undo the auto crash log dumps, open Command Prompt as before, paste "reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps" /f" without the outside quotes, and enter.

    @steamycoffe Hey, the sims 4 is extremely broken as of now after the latest update, so it's not your computer's or files' fault. Same thing has been happening to me and thousands of others players and there seems to be no fix for it, it worked fine before the July 26 update but now I'm getting all these random error pop ups. Best thing to do is just wait until EA finally decides to fix the problem 🤦‍♀️
