Re: Apex legends crashing without error

Also having this issue. 4690k. Have 2 RX480s, but I'm using one for the game (crossfire disabled), I turned off Freesync, I've tried borderless and full screen, I'm tried various amount of VRAM settings(although I should be good at max...), I've tried no vsync, triple (the default), and dynamic. Windows 10, 16 GB RAM.   I've turned random settings down, and I'm lucky to go a full game without crashing.

Please implement the ability to rejoin games and a command line switch to do crash dumps when it dies like this.

My friends are pretty much just going to give it a month and try again, it's super frustrating to lose at least one person every match.

**This might have worked for me**
Tried a bunch of the solutions that I had seen recommended.  So far this is the only one that seems to have worked (at least so far).

Noticed that in my group of friends I was the only one having issues.  Through trial and error figured out I was the only one playing in full-screen mode as opposed to border-less window. Changed my settings to border-less window and have not had any issues since.

Maybe its just a coincidence, but worth a shot.  Try it out and see

*note: prior to this change, my game was crashing randomly and without error notice about ever other game (if not every game).

I was finally able to play a match without crashing by disabling GSync in my NVIDIA control panel, then disabling VSync in game.  I kept all other settings the same.  Going to keep testing this tomorrow.  Hope it helps somebody.

    Trust me, it's coincidence.

I didn't notice any, no.  However I use a controller, so its possible that a little more could be noticed with the higher DPI using a mouse.

Sorry to hear that.  I had also tried lowering settings, disabling vsync, etc.   So it's possible it was a combination of factors.  If I crash in the near future I'll come back and edit my comments.

I've had sometimes where I'll manage to go 5 - 10 games in a row without crashing after making a change, but then I crash early in the next 5 in a row. It's hard to say when something worked or not.

I agree. As someone pointed out previously, we should only consider that something is a fix when it lasts for days (or at least 24 hours) with no crashes whatsoever.
We should also take into consideration the fact that we don't play every match for the same amount of time. If you died in 2 minutes it's hard to say you "played a match without crashing".

That being I said, I still really appreciate people posting and giving suggestions. It would be awesome to hear an update from EA though.

Just about 430 messages in this thread and no EA response to these crashes ☹️

I was using roccat juke usb sound card which caused the issues. I think it is something with sound card drivers. If you use USB sound card try without it, or update its drivers.

I still haven't crashed since I shut down discord. But I'm positive now we're all experiencing the same symptom but from different causes, althought the underlying bug might of course be the same.

  • Got a solution for y'all Go to the Game Properties of Apex Legends Then go on Advanced Launch Options and type in "+fps_max 100" It worked for me, I've been having this problem since I started playing the game and today I fixed it with this

Both my friend (rx 580, i5 8350k) and me (gtx 1070ti, i5 8600k) tried the "+fps_max 100" line and it still keeps crashing. Later in the day we will try to adjust the virtual memory. I also heard somewhere that increasing the FOV (filed of view) causes crashes, so it's best to set video settings to default.

Things we tried that didn't work for us:

    - disable GPU, CPU and RAM OC

    - set everything to low

    - reinstall game to SSD/HDD

    - install latest BIOS

    - windowed mode/borderless window mode

    - set apex compatibility to windows 7 (we have windows 10)

    - disable full screen optimisation

    - reinstall/repair game/origin

    - repair anti cheat

    - try out both 1803 and 1809 windows builds

    - he tried out 3-4 latest AMD drivers, I tried out 3 latest Nvidia drivers

    - disable all background overlays, after that we disabled all those apps (discord, msi afterburner,...)

    - disable origin in-game and overlay together with the overlay exclusively for apex in the game settings menu inside origin

    - set origin/apex to run as administrator

    - in the Nvidia drivers i set apex power management mode to high performance, maximum pre-rendered frames to 1, enable all cuda cores, enabled threaded optimisation, turned v-sync on/off

    - can't remember anything else...

With all these tried out, community managers think that the problem is on your systems ( https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Crashes-unacceptable/m-p/7470806/highlight/true#M12658 ). What a joke, right ? I don't expect to see a fix any time soon. Don't get your hopes up high.

LOL and to think I literally said they would come after some time and say it was a problem with our hardware. We're in big numbers but we're still a minority, and knowing EA, they won't move a finger unless it affects their pockets.
This is pathetic and I think I lost all my remaining hope.
"Given that most users are not having issues with the game" translates to "Come back when we give a *". This is the difference between a respectable company and EA. If this was a respectable company or even an indie developer, they would try to make sure everyone can play the game if they meet the minimum requirements. What's even worse is the fact that we can't do anything about it unless some big YouTuber makes a video and that video happens to get some views. That's how gaming works nowadays. This was the first and last time I had anything to do with EA. I learned my lesson.

disabling cores, adding more maximum pages, no v sync, launch option for max fps 60 seems to do, no discord, disable origin ingame, window mode
