Re: Mouse stuttering

That means your mouse polling/report rate is likely 1000, which is what is probably causing your stuttering. Apex Legends seems to prefer a rate of 500 or less, 250 is best for many people.

Mouse polling/report rate is how many times per second a mouse is talking to the program and telling it what it's doing. The mouse is talking too fast and too much and the game can not understand what it is saying.

What is the brand of your mouse? You need the software for your mouse brand, depending on who makes your mouse I might be able to point you in the right direction.

  • I have this stuttering problem and it got worse when I got a new motherboard and CPU upgraded and noticed the stuttering a lot more. I have the Corsair Scimitar Pro mouse and I messed with the polling rate and tested it with the link you provided and got an average of 498hz on 1000hz polling rate on the iCue software. When I changed it to 500hz the stuttering went down a little bit, then changed to 250hz it went away completely. Now how I tested the stuttering is the Origin Launcher itself. I would move the window around and test if it stuttered. The mouse was causing so much stutter the launcher also stuttered it. Now how I can tell with just a window I have a 144hz monitor and I can tell the difference. So, all in all changing the polling rate indeed fix my problem. Thank you for that information it was driving me crazy! I have a i7 8700K, 16GB of RAM, and a 1060 6GB Video Card. I was so confused and thought it was my hardware and it wasn't the case at all.

  • cant be the issue.. I was playing apex on 1000hz mouse since launch and got a brand new 1000hz keyboard yesterday.. stuttering is mainly connectivity or pc config
  • YOU HAD A VERY BAD BOTTLENECK. THAT IS THE REASON FOR YOUR PAST STUTTERING, AND IF YOU SEE THIS IN 2021 AT LEAST YOU KNOW FOR THE FUTURE. YOU CANNOT PAIR SUCH A STRONG CPU WITH SUCH A MODERATE GPU AND EXPECT A GRAPHICALLY INTENSIVE GAME LIKE APEX TO RUN SMOOTHLY! YOUR STUTTERS GOT WORSE AFTER YOU UPGRADED YOUR CPU BECAUSE YOU MADE THE BOTTLENECK WORSE. YOUR CPU GOT STRONGER AND TRIED TO PUSH OUT MORE PERFORMANCE THAN YOUR 1060 IS CAPABLE OF KEEPING UP WITH, THUS CAUSING MASSIVE STUTTERING. SO YES YOU SHOULD'VE TRUSTED YOUR INSTINCTS, IT'S DEFINITELY YOUR HARDWARE.

I have rtx 3090 Ti + Ryzen 9 5900x + 4x 240Hz Monitors, it still causes stutter in some games with polling rate 250 & above. I'm using Logitech G900, maybe the software of the mouse it self OR the game engine's the culprit.
