Re: Low TTK is ruining my enjoyment of this game

@Gabrielmojo26 Yeah I think people will realize in time that this is a good thing. The high TTK made Apex basically a straight numbers game. And if you dropped in with a bad squad or short a man, you were pretty much doomed.

Now that one or two player squad has a chance of doing something. That squad that all the sudden gets squeezed by a third party has a chance to get through it. I got my first short handed win that I can remember yesterday. Two man squad from the start, and we were in combat most of the match.

    @ArchAngeL-PCX100%

Was playing duos yesterday, and even tho my teammate was mediocre at best, I could squad wipe while he was down, and this happened on numerous occasions within said game.

Ended up with a 16 kill game, 4 revives, and somewhere around 2k dmg, which isn't much dmg, but the badge flaunting ways of thinking needs to stop, as people were ruining the game teaming up only to farm for badges.

In a way, these changes (EVO and TTK) reward the solo grinding player, I don't need to be dependent on killing an entire squad for a chance to upgrade shields anymore, if both my teammates insta die and leave, as I can poke dmg from a distance, and upgrade my shield giving me at least a chance of a leveled playing field, hell I can even craft shield dmg. Not to mention, 3rd parties, which you already touched base in an aforementioned comment.

@Gabrielmojo26 Calm down. It was your luck not your skill.
Lower TTK makes games more luck based. In TF2 I have only 30 hours, and that's include the single. I was mvp multiple times in multiplayer matches and I am a below average player.
  • How exactly lowering the TTK in game like Apex is a good thing? Its reducing the gun fights, which is a bad time, and increase empty time floating around, increase healing time, and increase healing time and looting time.

I drop with 2 squads, by the time we finish fighting this 2 teams, there was 8-10 squads left and a huge map to go and search time. By the time looting around and find the next squad, there was 4-5 squads left.

Wasting your time on doing nothing is good ? Is that what your telling me ? You know when your going to improve that way? I can tell you, exactly never.

This TTK makes sense for games lik CS:GO, Valorant or even Rogue Company, deathmatch and arena games. You die and your spawning either straight away or very fast.

This way your fighting constantly, and actually playing the main reason your playing FPS game.

And all of this games have fixed maps, where you learn perfectly for a week time and know what to expect, from where people will peak and you play tactically and positioning, for example like CS:GO and Valorant. Arena games is a bit different and most are using high TTK for the duels, which is the most fun part.

What happen in a game like Apex with huge open world map ? You either got to camp and your "empty" time is going to be 10x more than your actual fight time, you waste your time now way more in healing, because unlike before, when most of the time you switch armor or just pop shield cell/battery and move on, now 99% of the time your healing time is at least 2-3-4-5x time higher, because your shields is gone just by pocking. You decide to move from point A to B, and a camping team stretch you in no time, you are wasting more time on cells/heals.

And with the EVO changes, when you are swaping armor, your losing your current EVO damage and the swapped armor in most case is lower, and your ****** stuck to heal and waste even more time.

Also lowering TTK and certain weapon wrecked you in 0.5 seconds is not going to increase your chances in 1v2 or 1v3 its actually lowering it. This is not CS:GO, where you can headshot for 1 hit and wrecked entire team before they even hit you or do you very little damage.

So don`t explain me how this is helping 1v2 or 1v3 fights, its make them way worst. And this is not just my opinion, but also PRO opinion.

They also state that its lowering the skill ceiling, and this is 100% true.

Higher TTK always means more skill needed.

Explain to me again, how this is healthy or fun ?

The whole changes make this game unplayable if you are not playing pre-made, and solo queue.

Go watch Ottr(pro streamer) stream and how he was wrecked in a no time game after game and he couldn`t do a ****, even tho he is way more skilled than the whole pubs lobby he was playing. He was furious and swear at the Season 6.

Did you even check what PRO reaction was, everyone is hating it.

    Be my guess:

    Tweet from snip3down:

"All of this on top of weapons like the volt and devotion having 0 sound most of the time causes issues in fights constantly. Devo should not be a floor weapon at all, and may as well go back in the care package, take the R99 out and replace it with devo IMO"

    "
Played the new Apex season for about 16 hours now, I love the map changes so far and don’t mind the crafting system, however, the skill gap has been dramatically reduced due to every weapon feeling powerful, which goes hand in hand with reducing max HP"

    Hal:
    "
Season 6 impression: The gun meta is complete trash now, every gun is so brain dead with no recoil with insane amount of damage, R301, Scout, Volt, Devo, havoc and * buffing burst weapons??? Skill gap doesn't even exist anymore
    "

I think this is more than enough. So explaining how lowering the TTK rewards skill is a complete b.c, its exactly the opposite.

@budzai Lower TTK games are rewarding for good players my guy, players with a better game sense, better awareness in general, better aim, better movement. Nothing to do with luck.

@Gabrielmojo26Exactly. Your shots have to count from the start, or you will get dropped.  Map awareness, game sense, everything you mentioned all comes into play.  100% agree with everything you said.

And that short handed player now stands a chance if he/she gets the drop on a squad. Before, he might knock one by the time the other two are all over him. Now he can knock the one faster, before the others can react to him.

Besides, it's not like you have no survivability anymore. The TTK in this game is still way higher than a standard shooter. People are acting like they removed shields entirely lol

This ain`t true. And pro players are telling you that. Unless you are superman, you can`t have such game sense to see everyone hiding in the building and to react to people shooting you from all the possible places and killing you in a no time.

Again just watch my clip from above.

    Another one:

    https://streamable.com/ok8jsi

If you think ShivFPS, former rank 1 player, and top 3 kill players, doesn`t have game sense, awareness, aim and movement, your obviously don`t know what your talking about.

Again this is not a fixed objects games, where you know what to expect in every single moment, and if you die by surprise its 100% on you.

In open world-maps you can`t cover the whole map, no one can do that, except for wall hackers. And playing on solo queue, where your teammates don`t know what is happening your doomed.

    Again:

Actually higher TTK rewards the highly skilled player.

Higher TTK means you need to have a good reaction, to track the target, to be able to read his movement, keep the recoil on the gun for the whole mag(most of the time), and even reload or switch weapon and do the work + on top of that, you need to be strafing/moving to dodge the bullets.

Guess which ones require more skill, a one shot, that could very well be a lucky shot, or the described above.

Also higher TTK require more consistency and totally rules the luck factor.

@LordloshBangWhat is Nicewigg telling me in regards to TTK actually? lol

Edit; wait a minute, aren't you the one that went at it, in another thread, that got locked down, because you couldn't take any criticism without resorting to insults?

Edit, again!; FYI, some pros are actually complaining they're melting the enemies too quickly lolol

For the record, I'm not seeing overall better personal stats or really a change in wins or how far I get in the game.  I'm having my good games and bad games like before.  I've even had instances where I surprised myself getting the jump on a player, it distracts my aim so that it's a bit off, and he/she turns and puts me down feeling like a chump lol!!

The difference is in how it plays out.  This feels more rewarding.  If I engage properly and my aim is true, I'm getting the knock and in good order.  I'm getting properly rewarded for that.  Before, I'd sit stunned as my opponent sponges every bullet I hit him with, knowing that even if I win the fight it's taking so long that I'm about to get jumped.  And of course, it often happens.  I can't tell you how many times I wished we could throw our guns in this game.  I wanted to just throw it at his face and get it over with lol!!!  It also had caused this game to be too formulaic in how the map was approached, especially the third party situation.

Played just now and - apart from one horrendous elastic band game in which I still managed to down two - it seemed a lot better. I hardly saw a Devotion and yesterday it seemed as if everyone had one.

Rampart still needs a nerf. I got to the final two with an Octane against Rampart/Rev/Mirage. Skills did not come into it - we could not even get close. Ordnance should cause Sheila to blow up and anyone close enough to it with it.

K/DR yday was a pitiful 0.26. Today it was 0.57, still below average but a distinct improvement.

  • In the grand scheme of things nothing is different for me lol, stats haven't changed one bit, my matches are just shorter on avg.

it feels like a TDM now, you get beamed from miles and why low profile still is a thing ? player for 2 hours and it felt bad, Devo and volt is just too Op, i know i can't stand in-front e devo or a volt ! That mini gun should have a limit like 90sec or something ! it's too crack now!

You guys have to realize apex is ability based team based game the guns have fairly low mag capacity as is and you get slowed down by bullets which reduces your momentum and the games movement is based on momentum healing time way to high it allows ppl to push u with no ability to heal and have enough health to even to anything by the time they get there and if 1 person is mechanically better against 2 ppl who aren’t as good but play together and use their ability and utility it doesn’t matter how mechanically good you are this a a numbers game sadly high ttk drags out gunfights ans u can’t have higher than normal ttk and be team based and be ability based it drags * out way too much this game needs huge balance lower the ttk a notch make the white armo and blue armor more common and make the purple less common and for you to shoot and get thru a certain threshold of damage to upgrade your armor is a cool idea but it doesn’t work out it means everyone can be purple and red armored up it’s like everyone having level 3 armor in pub g and u also abilitiesssss they affect gun fights heavily lifeline being able to auto res and still shoots unlike how she was with Js the shield but having to actually res blood hounds * wall hacks seer wall hacks that stun u reveal u and cancel your animations ...u can’t have all this * in a game and have a ttk like this idc about it meaning I have better skill bc u have to track enemies and * that sounds good on paper it doesn’t work in the actual game warzone ttk with a non meta weapon is the perfect amount off ttk the player has the ability to shoot someone and put enough rounds into someone with it being Mickey Mouse and on the other side of the coin it allows the player getting shot to run and heal so they are able to re enter the fight and not have to take 10+ sec to heal like in apex if the games ttk was slightly lower it would allow ppl with better gunskill to knock and finish ppl without having to fully focus your time and shots on one person bc u can beam someone knock him then shoot at his friend and knock him too unless u are a certain distance away meaning the damage you take u have to run away and heal then go back u can’t Js win off the raw mechanical aim it’s about health and numbers and abilities Thts all apex is I’ve played over 7k games 1.7m on wraith 8k kills played seige for ever so I have good mechanical aim and I have a ovr average movement and I doesnt * matter if ppl are Js playing together it’s very hard to split up ppl in tht game unless ur at the streamer building or in a area where there is a lot of building to maneuver from the game needs faster healing times and slightly lower ttk to mitigate having to  Use all ur ammo on one person and still have to quickly engage another person if u can’t get a armor swap bc the little * is in the corner with his knockdown shield his team is already pushing u as ur trying to bm the kid knocked and if u don’t have enough health to fight u dieee!!!! It doesn’t matter how mechanically better u r and if u say oh Js run away heal and re join the fight then the fight gets reset!!! Everything goes back to square one unless ...u have teammates which brings me to say u can’t hve a above average ttk slow healing time abilities and get punished for getting shot(getting slowed) which is inevitable  so to all u saying the ttk isn’t high ur not the sharpest tool in the shed u can’t have slow healing time abilities and low mag capacity on pretty much every gun except a few like lmgs and lstar and expect gun fights to feel rewarded bc there Has to be a median a balance if u don’t think the ttk is high you Js play with your team lol in games like warzone and pub g you can win off raw skill and it’s a perfect balance lower ttk in warzone but u have the ability to run while healing to get back in the fight and u have enough bullets in your gun to knock more than one person warzone ttk is only really low when u meta abuse and I’m not a meta abuser

But most people won’t be happy until bullets do zero damage.
