Re: Mic doesn't work in game chat

Hey @aregularman,

What type of mic are you using? Also, do you have any other devices connected to your Xbox?

  • I am using the turtle beach stealth 700. No, I don't. They work for every other game and in party chat too.

    Got it, thanks!

    Have you checked to see if there might be a firmware update for the headset? The Turtle Beach website has a tool you can use to update it if you have access to a PC. If you're able to give that a shot can you let me know if it makes any difference?

  • I just plugged it in and checked, and it says it is up to date. I checked apex just in case, and it still doesn't detect that I have a mic in-game chat. Also, I don't know if this helps. If I am in a party chat with my friends when the screen goes black after you select a legend and loading into the game, it shows my gamer tag with a mic and whoever is playing with me at the party. So it is like the game recognizes that but won't pick up the mic when I am in actual game chat.

    Does this only happen when you're in a party? If you join a game without being in a party does it pick up your mic?

  • So I just attempted to check this by loading into a game and my mic worked in the legend select screen for the first time in a long time but not in the lobby or in the actual game. I also still couldn't hear anyone else who was talking.

    Hmm, gotcha. That's definitely strange.

    Can you try something else for me? What happens if you remove and re-add your Xbox Gamertag to your Xbox? I've seen some cases where that can help with similar issues, so I'm curious if it would make a difference here as well.

    For more information on how to remove it check out the Xbox Support website. Once it has been removed you can then log back into your account to re-add it to the console. Let me know if that helps. Thanks again!

  • So I did that and reinstalled the game and everything from before, and now the mic is working in-game chat, but it is super laggy or chun ked up. Like no one can understand me or barely, and I can barely understand them. It works fine in party chat still and on other games.

    Have you checked to make sure there aren't any other bluetooth devices that are trying to connect to your mic at the same time? That sounds like interference of some kind.

    /Kent

  • Well I think I had it working but the update made it not work again at all. Nothing is connected bluetooth

    Ouch, thanks for the heads-up. What did you do to get it working before the update?

    @aregularman

    Ah, so it just started working normally again on its own before the update?

    @aregularman

    Hmm, that's really bizarre. Do you have any other mics handy? If so, what happens if you try connecting one of them instead of this headset? Does the same issue still happen, or is it only happening with that specific headset?
