Re: Titans in Apex

A titan LTM would be awesome lol.

As mentioned above though, never gonna happen.

You can still get online matches over on TF2 if you wanna play with a titan that badly. 😛

@MandatoryIDtag apex has way better servers than tf2 in my experience. and apex doesn’t stutter with vsync which i love lol. i just hope they update tf2 one final time to make it better optimized lol
  • @Ebilracc  Yeah no doubt.

Don't get me wrong, when apex runs properly its an incredible game. However I've been around since S1 and its felt like the games steadily deteriorated with each progressive season.

I have seen some improvements this season but its probably gonna take another 2-3 seasons to get it back to where it was.

As for TF2, they'll probably just ensure the servers don't collapse and thats about it. Which is a massive shame as its still one of the best FPS on the market as far as i'm concerned. I never played TF1 so when I first jumped into TF2 I was literally blown away by just how fricken cool the gameplay was. 😛

For a LTM, titans would be nice, I think devs often look for little meta shakes, this would just go right up that alley. The actual problem is the technicalities behind. Making titans work on the current maps, with the rest of the features is an effort that simply isn't worth spending as it's just for a couple of weeks.
  • @Ebilracc Short freezes, occasional stuttering, rubber banding, hits not registering, getting hit behind doors or behind corners are just a few examples of issues caused by network lag and instability. You can get perfect servers, these issues will still occur because it's impossible to fix the whole network.
  • @DoYaSeeMe This.

Yes Respawn has said they tried Titans in the main game, and couldn't make it work. That doesn't mean they can't come to Apex in the form of LTM or some otherwise new game mode. They can leave the BR as is with no Titans.

Besides, it would be a great way to lead into TitanFall 3. Apex has such a large community. If they could introduce Titans to Apex in an alternate mode, then they could get a lot more people interested in a TitanFall 3.
  • @Ebilracc Stutter is also a network issue, usually when network is congested. Can happen often on wi-fi because of interferences. Data packets arrive with delay to your device, in chunks. This makes an enemy change positions in a chaotic manner: runs for 1-2 meters, then stops because there's no data update, then all updates for the next 10 meters arrive at about the same time, so now your device has to position that enemy 10-15 meters away all of a sudden. To not make it appear like a teleportation, there's interpolation that adds a few frames in between the previous position and this last received one, basically breaks the movement into smaller teleportations, which is in fact what we call stuttering .
  • @Ebilracc I've had mostly no problems with TitanFall 2 servers. I've played it since launch. Recently though, I've seen pretty bad server performance across the board from EA games. TitanFall 2, Battlefield 4, Apex, Battlefront 2...all have been rubberbanding and stuttering. Battlefront 2 has been the most stable for me.

@MandatoryIDtag I had an idea for a titan LTM in one of my season concepts I tried keeping in mind the reasons why the devs wouldn't put them in and worked around that for something hopefully fun

    LTM- standby for titanfall-

Three teams will be granted a titan to fight with them, they can't enter and control it the titan will act as an A.I. which only attacks other titans. In order to win a squad must destroy the other two titans three times. Players have unlimited respawns, are allowed to ride an enemy titan to deal damage or steal a battery to heal their titan. Titans can deploy electric smoke to deture an enemy or an ally can shoot them off.
  • @Ebilracc lol Yeah they do. I sort of chalked it up to the pandemic and odd working conditions maybe. Planetside 2 is basically the only other online game I play and I've not had the same issues. Overwatch as well, and it hasn't given me issues. I can't speak to COD or the PC online games.
  • @EbilraccAlso, Titanfall and Apex don't use EA servers, except maybe for the lobbies 🙂.

Internet demand increased a lot because of the pandemic. Network capacity couldn't simply support this, so internet got slowed down overall.

  • @Ebilracc You do know TF2 is many years old and thus mostly out of the limelight. Only reason that there’s been a resurgence is because of Apex and ppl not knowing they were ‘related’ and TF2 always has sales it seems so ppl bought it and played it on servers that were partly shut down or unkempt so bad network to play on.

Have you played it when it launched? Smooth as butter BUT I do know first week was bad due to too low server capacity.
  • @Koochi-Q hmm.

the servers aren’t like super awful it’s just the stuttering that pisses me off. it’s funny how many ppl have the problem lol. it feels like the majority of the ppl who play tf2 have stutters
  • @Ebilracc Cause it’s old and neglected. Like that piece of bread you forgot on the counter at launch. It got stale... or like buildings exposed to the elements without upkeep.

Servers work the same way. Just look at original modern warfare servers. I dare say one of the finest servers in gaming... years after those games were out of limelight... hacker infested mess.
  • @Koochi-Q yeah... i guess it’s bound to happen to all games at some point.

but i’m pretty sure the stuttering is a game thing and not a server thing... audio and texture issues if i recall correctly lol
  • @Ebilracc Depends tho. Stuttering can be hardware or software connected. And from client or server in both cases.

Client software: unoptimized code. Frequency can fluctuate but it would be mass encountered.
Client side hardware: not beefy enough hardware... particularly the GPU if it’s visual based or CPU if it’s performance based (such as lots of calculations cause 10 gibbies launch ult at same time in small space).

Server side software: bad coding again but different than client side this time.
Server side hardware: almost unthinkable really... unless you have such servers: https://external-preview.redd.it/7oa__PQt95o-hPN1qoqJv1dyWcKTz3yBAVgxRd7TjZc.png?auto=webp&s=7b7980e4fbe71af576c2153e8dd3ad355f2235ad
  • @Koochi-Q indeed... i see so many ppl playing tf2 on pc on r/titanfall that don’t get stutter in tf2 and it kinda annoys me lol
