- @Popa2caps No one really knows. But think about this. Let's say that PC crossplay was off by default. It I played with E9 who is PC while I am console, who would we play?

- @Popa2caps But no one would have it enabled. That is my point and why it is the way it is.
On the one hand, I imagine there would be a decent number of serious PC players who would like to opt for mnk only lobbies. On the other hand, is the example we have of the Switch player base. They have the option to opt out of cross-play, which puts them at an incredible disadvantage against PS4 and xbox players. But they overwhelmingly did not do so, making it impossible to find a non-cross play lobby. I expect the number would be far greater than "no one," but not nearly enough to support the player base split, either.

Oh, no. In this topic I'm solely focusing if PC's should have the ability to choose if they can choose for themselves. Like a full on debate about what others think. I'm not at all trying to push for separated input lobbies in this discussion.

@hayhor
Thanks for taking the time to reply, but I don't agree with the notion "no one" would have it enabled. I'm not trying to sound sarcastic by any means. I see quite a bit of console players in PC lobbies right now, so it seems a lot of PC players must enjoy this feature. - @hayhor you wouldn't get games aka crossplay removed, just like how it was forced on PC(somehow the solution is forced crossplay on PC AGAIN according to you)
Or make AA 0.4, remove controller icon. Problem solved - @Popa2caps You see "quite a bit" but have no actual idea if you have 10% or 20% or more console in your lobby. I'd bet the number is very low. And the reason I'm confident in that is because they have data on this and took away the option for a reason.
- @BaldWraithSimp If they just remove the icons people would whine less I agree.

I play solo a lot and most times I'm working on my website, I just spectate after my team gets eliminated. So I have a good general idea of the amount of console people in PC lobbies. It's quite common now for consoles to be in PC lobbies. Common being on average 6 (up to 10) teams out of 20. This is from central and eastern United States data centers in public games.
Also in my experience I've noticed far more console players in ranked lobbies than public games (Diamond up) with 9 or more on average.
I'm totally assuming by saying this, but I honestly think Respawn forced cross-play on PC players because they knew the majority of players would in fact disable the feature altogether. Now though, with cross-play being forced for this amount of time, I'm sure if PC players were given a choice, not everyone would disable it outright because they have used it and/ or enjoy using it. - @Popa2caps Ok so let's say half your lobbies are console players. Would you be willing to live with longer queues or even no queues because what you are saying would split your lobbies in half.
- @Popa2caps It was done deliberately, they turned it on by default so a lot of people won't even bother or are aware of the settings. Increased queue times obv so force it on everyone eventually to appease the console playerbase.
I see console players sometimes here and there(Singapore), like maybe 5 out of 100 games in Arena(my team/enemy team). Obv just going off my memory, have to do a proper survey otherwise. In BR, it's the same but obv I don't come in contact with all 19 teams. - @BaldWraithSimp It always feels like there's a few console players in all my lobbies and lately they seem to dominate, I would definitely switch off crossplay given the choice.

To simply answer your reply. Yes, without a doubt I would take or wait an extra amount of time with the ability to disable cross-play (myself).
Also, I don't think queue times would be that drastically altered being Apex Legends worked fine without cross-play anyways. Basically I'm saying I don't think much would change in que times.
@BaldWraithSimp
Yeah, It's quite common in US servers to get console players in PC lobbies at the moment. I don't even blame them. If I play ranked, why wouldn't I just start up my console for the extra aim assist lol - @Popa2caps Server fragmentation or playerbase splitting is not just about increased queue waiting times, but also about a much smaller pool for the matchmaker and higher average ping for many players.
The removal of the crossplay toggle was made for the mid/long term good of the game. Players only care about their personal & immediate benefit, when things go South they never admit having a role in the failure and fly away to other titles.
If I were a trillionaire, I'd make an experiment: create a game and then give the players access to everything possible, including things like setting servers tick rate or modifying the matchmaking formula. I'd be really curious to see how quickly the players.would destroy it . - @Popa2caps That is fair. I'm all for options. It would be nice if they released an official statement with statistics and reasoning why they took away the option.

@DoYaSeeMe
Why would Respawn and/ or EA care about server issues? It's all handled by Unity for Apex Legends directly.https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/lrh8y1/this_is_why_apex_legends_has_a_lot_of_issues/
"It is not a myth, it is a Fact, all EA games are known to have very bad network quality and unfortunately Apex Legends is no exception, but here are some facts that you need to know:
EA Servers are not currently hosting games for Apex Legends.
EA has no control over Apex regarding networking.
The company in charge of Servers is called: Multiplay.https://unity.com/products/multiplay
If Respawn had a long term goal, it would be to invest into a new netcode. Apex Legends worked fine before (even better in my opinion) before cross-play was added. There should be an option for each player to decide if they want it or not.

@hayhor
True that. Also found a good read on Apex Legends networking.
https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/lrh8y1/this_is_why_apex_legends_has_a_lot_of_issues/ - @Popa2caps I've been mentioning Multiplay around this forum since 2019. If you do a search, you'll find a ton of posts coming from me about them and other server / network related stuff. Content creators and streamers only discovered this a few months ago, which says a lot about how superficial their research is.

bump, Add the ability to disable cross-play on PC.
