Steam overlay not working on EA games owned on and launched via Steam

Previously the Steam overlay worked fine and I could take screenshots, reply to Steam DMs and my FPS indicator was displayed. Upon searching the issue on Google I found two recent threads stating this is a widespread problem affecting all EA games launched from Steam and started after an EA app update.How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Install The Sims 4 via Steam and then launch it and attempt to use the overlay keybind (default is shift+tab)What happens when the bug occurs? Steam is unable to inject it's overlay DLL into the game process.What do you expect to see? For the Steam overlay to be fully functional. Same here. Few weeks ago everything was working fine, now doesn't matter which EA game it is, steam overlay doesn't work at all. Tried it with Battlefield V, It Takes Two and Plants vs Zombies 2. Please fix it, it's very annoying.

Update: I found a fix. If you have EA App overlay disabled it also somehow disables Steam overlay too. So you just have to go to EA App settings, enable overlay and it will make Steam overlay work too.

for me too but the weird thing is that the Game and the Launchers are bugged, my screenshots are just working on window mode or borderless mode but on fullscreen its not working and also the colour is so strange like faded but on the other 2 modes it works good

@fultpl Thank you, that does seem to be a functional workaround. Hopefully EA can fix it so we can use the Steam overlay without the EA overlay.

I'd mark your post as the solution, but I'm not sure if that'll mark the bug report as having been resolved.

It's July 2024 and this problem persists. ME2LE is crashing for me(ME1LE worked fine), but when I turn off the EA overlay, the game runs fine. However, because of this issue, I can't use Steam overlay in-game. EA should have fixed this bug(I really hope this is a bug and not their new feature) long ago.
