It definitely could be an outdated mod or custom content. To test this, move your mods folder out to your desktop.

Go to the Electronic Arts folder\Sims 4 folder [C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\Sims4] and Right-click on the Mods folder, select Cut. Paste it to the desktop. This moves the Mods folder out to the desktop while you test.

Clear the game cache and delete the localthumbcache.package file.

The localthumbcache.package can be found in the main Sims 4 folder
- C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

Removing the mods folder without deleting the localthumbcahche.package file from your The Sims 4 folder, isn't enough of a test, these two steps need to be done together.

Try playing the game again without any mods or custom content. Create a new game to see if you can see Newcrest in the World Select menu.

So I did what you suggested and that fixed the issue. NEWCREST is back.  I did lose all of my builds.  Is that gone forever?

    It worked thanks for checking.

  • They shouldn't be gone forever.

Your saved builds and Sims should be in your Tray folder.
    C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray

Hopefully you didn't delete that by accident while testing the mods issue?

They should both show up in your Library. The households should show up under Manage Households in either My Households tab or Other Households tab.

If you're missing families and they aren't in Manage Households -

Maybe you saved your game at one household and then switched to another household before exiting the game.

If that doesn't help, click Load Game to see what other saves you have to see if you can find any of your missing families.

Please Note: Sim families from another game save cannot interact with another Sim family from a different game save. To get them to interact with each other they need to be in the same game save.

To get the families all into one game save, go to the main menu and click Load Game for each of the families you want to save. Save the family and their house to the library and place them into one game save.

Im still trying to help my daughter get her builds back.  I appreciate your help.  WHen I look in the tray folder it appears that  everything is stored/saved there just like you said.  WHen I go into the library there are no previous builds and that has never been an issue before.

Is there a way to get it from the trays back into the library?  Or a way to have the SIMS game read the trays or access the trays, that doesnt seem to be happening automatically anymore?.

  • If I am understanding your question correctly, you have builds missing from your library, but they are in your tray folder?

In the Library, do you have Include Custom Content checked under the Advanced section? It's on the left side. This helps builds and households with cc to show up.

I did find a thread from the Official forum that might help with this issue.
