- Zulkiers8 months agoSeasoned Ace@Midnight9746 Do you know what I mean by the heartbeat scan audio, when being scanned by it?
Does kings canyon ever baffle you like that? Do you even know what I mean by it's ambience?
I hope so... I hope I'm not the only one who's noticed. The audio is relatively quiet. @Zulkiers Yes I do, it sounds like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTgFzMqYzIY
Kings Canyon also does have a lot of ambiance, but its not the only one. All the maps have some form of ambiance that often is too much for the sound engine, (and the new E-District map is no exception). There's a lot of sound coming from the jump pads, (the green square launchers that will throw you upwards), the wind hitting the buildings, etc.
For me, I often would mistake the ambiance for footstep audio and my randoms would look at me like I'm losing my mind when I ping "enemy here" behind us. 9 times out of 10, I'd focus in on the sound because the one time when I don't, its another team. However, I can understand how the heartbeat can sound like the wind or parts of the map making sounds, (like machinery).
I don't think you're the only one who's having issues with the audio being quiet. The audio engine as a whole needs a lot of work. However, I think that would require the game to be developed on a new game engine as recently, Respawn had put out a patch for the footstep audio, but I don't think its working as intended. For me, footsteps have gotten more quiet and yet somehow teammates are sounding like a titan falling out of the sky with each step. If only teammates had the silent footsteps and the enemies were louder.- Zulkiers8 months agoSeasoned Ace@Midnight9746 Footstep audio is very loud, scan audio is loud, ambience is quiet which is fine, but heartbeat scan is almost as quiet as ambience, and Kings Canyon, particularly the deserty areas, seems to be the only place I hear that ambience, so I often mistake it for a heartbeat scanning me.
Other maps, like Broken Moon and E-District, I've yet to hear that ambience. Whenever I hear it on those maps, it's always followed by either gunshots or a seer tactical. Kings Canyon however, 9 times outta 10 it's the ambiance.
I use a headset. Works very well, to my liking. I don't know if it's surround sound though, as sometimes I hear something on the left that's actually on the right, or I hear something in front that's actually behind or beside me. Although normally it does a good job. Could just be the sound engine. I don't know.
Seer heartbeat doesn't sound like machinery. More like a pulsing or crickets? Eh, the desert ambiance basically. That's why it gets me there, and only there.
I also don't get distracted on storm point either. Most maps are safe from ambiant distraction, it's only kings canyon that gets me that bad.
Although, I think there was one spot, probably near a prowler den or creature cage, where I heard footsteps. I think it was the creature though, as no players were around. If there wasn't a creature, then I don't know where it was, it's been a while since I've heard it or been distracted by that. It's only the heartbeat vs desert ambiance that gets me lately. Maybe when they bring another map back into rotation might I figure out what the other thing was. I've completely forgotten what the other was and what map it was. - Zulkiers8 months agoSeasoned Ace@Midnight9746 No, no not the scanning as seer, the being scanned by seer audio. It sounds totally different. Like cricket buzzing, which is also used in desert areas, currently only found in kings canyon as far as I can tell.
