Re: Free base game question

Hi, i have bought the sims 4 years ago, and i just learned that the company was going to make it free ?! Excuse me ?

I dont think its fair for the players who have paid for it hence why i expect to be refunded.

So my question is, who do i have to contact to adress this very unpleasant issue. Thank you and have a good day.

  • I've bought it twice, as I purchased one for me and one as a gift. But we'll be getting "Desert Luxe kit" free as a gesture. It's a kit I would have bought as it looks lovely and with the disruption to my game from recent expansion packs, I'd rather have a kit than a pack as (touch wood) I've found less bugs in kits. However I think store credits might have been more appropriate as the base game price has varied over the years and platforms. But still, we are getting something nice. I'd also have been happy to see them introduce "bundling" for console players, as we miss out on that.

I'm just wondering if it's a precursor to something as there's a lot of speculation it's paving the way for a Sims 5 announcement. In this new era where greater communication has been asked for and a new Twitter thread announced...maybe we'll find out. I'm not on Twitter but am assured it will be highlighted on the Twitter bar on here too. So let's watch this space...

Who are saying we should get a refund? We got a Free Kit. Ask yourself this. There is a game you want to play but you hear that it will be free some years from now. Would you buy it and start playing immediately or would you wait for years to be able to play for free? If the latter you can stop paying for games because many games eventually become free. For instance look at Epic. Every Week a new free game.

  • Is it true that Sims 4 is going free on October 19th?

if so I think it’s totally unfair for the people who have paid to get it because they should get a refund or something. or at least get an expansion pack for free.

    @Mollybeds7

It becomes free from October 18 and we got the latest kit for free. Both things have been mentioned here many times.

  • Now that the Sims 4 is free, do all the people who actually PAID for everything on their own get a refund because this seems to be totally unfair.

I talked to EA support and they told me that if 90 days have passed since the order, YOU CANNOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK. Very stupid.

  • @Gagea25 I played on Xbox before I downloaded it on my laptop and have CC but I never got the desert luxe pack for my xbox and I was so confused why everyone else got it and I didn’t? I eventually got it when the game went free but I don’t understand why I didn’t get it when it was free?

@ts4_shadowsims it wasn't automatically added, there was a process to go through and that process was complicated by a bug which meant that the Desert Luxe kit didn't always appear on the homepage with the other DLC.
So to redeem mine on Xbox Series S I had to open the gallery, find a lot that used the Desert Luxe kit and then click on the icon for the kit then it took me to the store where it told me it was free and I could download it.
So getting the kit wasn't so straightforward, I've played for about 22 years and needed assistance from a helpful EA rep to get it I felt like a bit of a doofus. But got there in the end.
  • I am very frustrated; I have just found out that TS4 has become Free-to-play and Buyers of TS4 PC have been given a kit (basically $5 USD) as a "refund" for the game (which is $40 USD) while Xbox members were given a WHOLE PACK ($40 USD) as a "refund" which is basically the price of the game. I just feel like this is unfair because there are people who play PC that have spent more than $100 dollars on the game and as a "refund" for the base game they received a "$5 Kit" which is not even that good tbh. I bought the game thinking it was always going to be for PURCHASE and not FREE. On top of it all, in order to "acquire" the kit we had to put on our credit card which beats the whole "free" thing. I do not feel like EA did us a fair deal.

I bought the Sims 4 when Cats and Dogs came out in 2017. I feel like I paid to get the game years before it was free.

As for the Desert Luxe kit, it was a “loyalty reward” rather than a “refund” and everyone who had the game (including console) had the opportunity to download it for free until the base game became free.

No one received a $40 expansion pack for free in relation to the game going free to play.

  • Why don’t people that bought the sims for money get a refund or atleast an expansion pack?

  • @Gagea25 A free Kit? 😳
Some weeks ago I installet Sims 4 after 2 years not playing. Now I have all extras but I can't remember there was a free kit 🤔
  • People keep saying for anyone who purchased the sims 4 was supposed to get a free kit but how comes I never got it ???

@XxmadisonherexX There was an offer last year to anyone who had already purchased the Sims 4 base game before it went free to play to get the Desert Luxe kit free. It ended almost a year ago and you had to see the offer first and then download it yourself. It wasn't given to anyone and players weren't contacted about it. It was publicised in some places but some players didn't hear about it unfortunately. I know a few people who sadly missed out.
