Ask Question

Hello, all I have is a really short question about sims 4.  It is yes or no and I will be satisfied. I want to move a sim out of a house "like their parents house" and not move them into another world. I only found 3 ways to move a sim out 1. Into a house with someone else 2. Out of the world but on their own 3. Or create a new sim and select the house you want and have the original sim in with them. What I really want is to move a sim out of a house they grew up in but keep the sim in the same world and neighborhood.  Much like adult sons and daughters move out of their parents house and usually in the same neighborhood and towns. Basically is this possible for sims 4 to do this. Please help me. Maybe we could buy a lot and move them into that empty space. Is that a possibility.

  • Hello, I am asking the community for help. I want to move an adult sim out on there own but I want it to be in the same world and same community as there parents. I have found 3 ways to move a sim out but it take them out of my world. The only way I found to move them into a new house is to create a new sim and move them into that house. Please recommend a method that can help or not

  • @ShenirS Yes, you can do this. If you move your sim out into the same world and into a house nearby you should be able to sometimes see them walking around
  • Hi @ShenirS - Yes, you can move a sim out of a household and put them in a new house in the same world. I think this is what you're asking?

You said you had only found 3 ways to move sims out of the household. #2 is "Out of the world but on their own". The only reason that you would have to move them out of the world would be if the existing houses in the world already have households/sims assigned to them. If the neighborhood has all houses full, you'll need to evict the others from the house you want, before your sim can move to it.

Carl's website has a great step-by-step guide (with pictures) on how to move sims in all sorts of situations. You can read through that here: https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/tutorials/moving-sims.php

I moved your thread to the Sims 4 forum, as there are many fellow Sims 4 players there. Happy Simming!

@ShenirS I second @BlackjackWidow 's advice.  I think the Carl's post needs an update, though.  It suggests that splitting a sim from a household gives them 20,000 simoleons, That may have been the case previously but you probably noticed that you'll have to transfer funds from the existing household to the new one if you want that sim to buy a house; making sure you give them enough money to buy the house you want for them.

Also, if all the houses in the neighborhood are indeed full as @BlackjackWidow suggested, you can evict them or you could move them to another lot in a different world.  If you do evict the family, they will be moved to "Other Households" and labeled "Not in World".  Note that all of the "Not in World" sims are subject to culling and may be deleted from the game eventually.  You could move the evicted family to another lot later using Manage Households.

If you just want to move the family to another lot, click on the occupied house you want for your sim, click the three dot button in the lower right corner, and select Move out Household.

Then just follow the prompts to place that family in another lot.  I suggest selecting sell furniture when moving that family.

If the family keeps the furniture, the house will have none.  This will bring the cost of the house down but then your sim will have to buy all new furniture when they buy the home.

If you'd rather just evict them, click on the house you want for your sim, click the three dot menu and select Evict Household.

Either way, you'll then have a house in your current world open for your sim to buy.  Hope this helps!
