@xochiquetzl_xkvn , you are probably right about the animations!
@PatrickClSim3Low , I hope they do the microscope next! While the large microscope and telescope are great for a lab setting, they are impractical for a house. I knew and know many people with telescopes in real life, and my baby sitter had a daughter with a microscope that I just loved! The slides came with the microscope and they were fascinating! 🤓🥰
I didn't think about the cupcake machine! Great point!😃 But i guess the best thing would be just to be able to make cupcakes in the oven! That would be the biggest space saver since most Sims' houses already have ovens! 🥳@PatrickClSim3Low Knowing EA, they will release some science themed pack and make people pay to get the smaller versions. It's gonna be called the "We Know You're All Gullible Enough To Keep Giving Us Money: Science Experiment Pack".
In all seriousness, I can't remember ever really using those either. I think I experimented with the microscope once, though I don't remember it being very useful or at least not in the base game anyway (am I missing something? lol). When it comes to the cupcake machine, I don't think I've ever used it. In fact I almost forgot it even existed, and if not for this topic I probably wouldn't have remembered it was a thing. It looks like something out of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (GENE WILDER!!!) or Dr. Seuss, which to me is kind of neat though yeah it's still much too large.
Since they have the option to resize objects in the game, it's too bad that some of the objects can't alter their animations or the characters' interaction animations to match the different sizes. I mean imagine a massive treadmill that the whole family can use, or a piano so big you can recreate that one scene in the movie Big with Tom Hanks lol.
@valohim666 , I know you were joking, but I can just see some people reading your statement above and actually thinking EA would do this, never mind the fact that they already have given us the smaller microscope for free! 🤦♀️
I only use the big microscope in one household. I started him as a scientist that lived alone, so in his spare time he would brush up on logic with the giant microscope and telescope, also doing some gardening. Then one fateful night he was abducted, and had a daughter! I decided to find him a wife to help take care of the child, and he married Eva Capriosa (or whatever her name is) from Get Together and I put her in the Police Detective career. I switch out who I go to work with. Not the best idea to give them both jobs that you follow them to work , but I made it work! Later, they had their own daughter, and while Eva was pregnant with their child , Ned got abducted again, and they had the babies almost at the same time! 😱🤣 Both babies were girls! That is 3 daughters total for Ned. Time went on and the eldest daughter (the Alien one) became a Space Ranger so I had to swap out the giant telescope to fit the rocket in the backyard. Meanwhile, Ned conducted experiments at work and now has 2 clones of himself, one being an Evil Clone! 🤣 Finally, Ned and Eva had another child and they got a boy for the first time! They cannot have anymore kids or get pets unless I break up the family. The oldest daughter has her eye on an Alien co-worker of Ned's, so I might get them married and move them out. I could move out the clones, but I think it is hilarious that Ned has taken them into his home . I had to give them different haircuts and beards so I can tell them apart! 😅
I actually have more giant telescopes in my households than I do the microscope. That is the only microscope I have on a residential lot, and it keeps the evil clone busy so he doesn't wreak havoc! 😉
But overall, I have about 3 or 4 giant telescopes in all of my saves (and I have a ton of saves!)
Yes, the cupcake machine does look very much like it belongs in Doctor Suess, Willy Wonka (I like both versions for different reasons, but I grew up with the Gene Wilder one! But the chocolate river looks so much more appetizing in the remake! 😅 ) And it also looks like it could belong in a number of Tim Burton films! 🥰 But yes, it is much too big. I have a total of 3 in all of my numerous saves. One is a professional chef who I had purchase one for her home, the other is from a bakery I downloaded and have my Sims operate, and the 3rd I used a cheat to put one in one of the university campuses for fun! 🥳 It is a shame we can't make these in our regular ovens in the game! 😞
The giant piano might be difficult because all our pianos in the game have keyboards that are too high. But maybe with a cheat we could have had something like in Big! That scene is soooo much fun! 🥳 And I now want a giant treadmill for the whole family! They would have to wear helmets because it would end up being like the roller derby! 😱🤣🤣🤣 That is the best idea yet!!! 💗😅- Vyo42 years agoSeasoned Veteran
Reviving this thread with some ideas to inspire another object resize. The Sims is soon planning to #FreeTheCupcakes away from the Cupcake Factory, maybe it's time to revisit the Microscope that is still obtrusively HUGE in 2023. A simple table-top microscope would be a great addition to the game.
Yes, this "macro" microscope object is likely huge because its a caricature of it's real life counterpart, the electron microscope, which is also quite large. But what if your science Sim wants to live in a tiny home? Does a rancher Sim with a scientist spouse have to choose between a 4x4 horse-bed or a 2x5 microscope on their 30x20 lot?
There is already an animation and object model in the game for a tabletop microscope when you look at the Junior Wizard Starter Set object. The animations need only be scaled for age Teens+ Sims. A seated adult Sim could perform the same animations.
And as with the Observatory, print collectibles can only be earned using the larger Microscope. The Observatory update introduced 10 new Lunar prints. A microscope update could similarly offer new collectible prints.
Currently 12 prints can be collected by analyzing plant/fossil samples on the large microscope. Below are some new suggested Microscope Prints to add to the game, some promoting cross-pack integration. Yay! More wall art!
BASE GAME
- Pollen
- New Fossils
- Minerals
- Space Rocks & Meteors
CROSS-PACK
- Outdoor Retreat - Insects
- Island Living - Shells
- Get To Work - Geode
- Get To Work - Patient Bio Sample, Doctor career
