Re: Aim assist is ruining the game

Stop saying 'roller' like your're on Twiter to save letters and maybe people will take things seriously

  • There are several issues here that are being overlooked:

First, everyone here probably has different experiences due to sbmm. Chances are we're not all in the same skill bracket.

Second, controller players have only gotten better (as have MnK players) over time. However, controller has evolved more than MnK, where there are now optimal settings to use, better controllers, things to help aiming more such as kontrolfreeks, and cheat devices such as Cronus, etc. which apparently can't be detected.

As such, I believe that the original value for aim assist, which may have been fine and fair when the game first launched, is probably no longer the same level of fairness that the devs initially intended.

Mice may have gotten better in some aspects, such as being lighter, wireless, better mousepads etc. But these things don't always help improve aim and sometimes can actually be detrimental. For example, higher DPI levels and polling rates over 1000hz is generally considered to be bad.

Moreover, playing on MnK vs controller at lower fps is noticably less smooth and much more difficult to aim with. I'm not sure why but there's some issue with Apex in particular that I've noticed where moving my mouse causes frame jitter and this happens across all mice, dpi settings and polling rates.

Controller does not suffer from these issues and on top of that, there is a lot of screen clutter that cannot be turned off which aim assist mostly just ignores but an MnK player has to deal with. Aim assist can even track players through things like trees and shrubs.

Combine all of that with the fact that players move so fast and unpredictable now that it's very hard for someone to track manually, and then you have some controller players using Steam config and neo strafing in your face which is basically impossible on MnK without external configs or programs.

MnK is indeed at a strong disadvantage in this game due to these reasons and while it may be superior in long to medium range, most fights are close range due to the fact everyone plays so aggressively and pushes on a crack or knock.

Most pro teams are not looking for MnK players these days, and that is for good reason. MnK just can't keep up anymore. If this was the old days with Zipline buildings where PK reigns supreme, it would be a different story.

But then again, the current #1 Pred is MnK so I guess my opinion is invalidated.
