all the beds in the house that I first noticed anything have only base game/dlc beds.

as far as I know I don't have any of those mods as I don't have that many script mods in my game but I do have tons of cc. to the point where my sims are covered in it. removing mods from my game would ruin all that wouldn't it?

@PicklePizza6 Any broken cc bed/mod can break stuff.

    Please test without anything.

Test on a backup of your game and yes stuff will be removed but if you don't use the regular save, that is a non-issue.

You test without and see if it occurs. If it doesn't you have to find out what's causing it and remove/update that piece of cc/mod.

I'm not sure how to actually do that without any confusion  of storage issues since I got sims 4 on steam it's very hard to find information about the steam version of sims4 which is very frustrating because I was told it was the better version because of origin being buggy at the time

@PicklePizza6 There's no difference between the steam version and the origin version when it comes to the game itself or any mod issues.

Both version save all your user data to the document folder and instructions for origin/Ea app to remove mods apply to the steam version as well.

So try a factory reset as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
