Sometimes removing the Mods folder only simply isn't enough which is why we've suggested you remove or rename the whole Sims 4 folder in a bid to try and narrow down the issue. It maybe that the problem is ingrained in your save in which case the only solution would be to start a new save.

It's not a bug and it's not Mac specific, it's one of your Mods. Move your Mods folder to the desktop, trash the localthumbcache.package file in the Sims 4 folder then load the game to see if it still happens.

I did that, and it still shows up, I got a last exception file so I put it in the reader website, and it says "missing expansion error" Is there a way to fix this, even after I removed all my mods from my mods folder it still says this.

Move the whole Sims 4 folder to the desktop then launch the game to the main menu and start a new game. How is CAS now? If it is normal, quit the game without saving and move your saves from the folder you moved to the desktop into the new Sims 4 > saves folder that has been created in the Documents > Electronic Arts folder. Launch the game and load CAS to check if it is still working normally. If not, post back here.

I tried, and it still didn't work, I genuinely don't know whats going on, should I just re-install the game again? It only did just happen after I got some costume content and mod, and I did try the 50/50 method but all of them work just fine, so i'm not sure.

What it looks like is that you have a custom CAS background that is no longer working properly or more likely, you have more than one custom background in your mods folder.  The game will only handle one at a time.  It could also be one that was made using a base background from a pack you don't own given what the error message was.  Either way something is broken.  You're going to have to search though your CC and mods one by one until you find any custom CAS backgrounds you have and remove them.  The 50/50 method doesn't always work for something like that.  If the problem just started though, it's probably something you put in your mods folder recently so you could start with those items and work through your mods and cc from there.

    Hope this helps.

  • I removed my whole mods folder and had a new one with no mods so I don't see what the problem is, I did figure it was just a cas mod but even after removing all the cas mods I had it was still going on, i'm not sure if its an error that once it happens it stays like that.

It could be that you inadvertantly put a file or two elsewhere in the "The Sims 4" folder.  It happens.  I've done it.  So you may not have caught it if all you did was move your mods folder out.

There is one other thing you can try.  More or rename your "The Sims 4" folder to something else.  Start the game.  It will create a new one.  Then just hit the big button to start a new game and the game will take you to CAS.  If the background is the standard game background and everything works then you'll know that you have a file hiding somewhere other than the mod folder within your original "The Sims 4" folder.

    Hope this helps.
