@Asmodeus566 Thank you for moving the thread.
@LindyIris10 / @S_Kitty91 I still think this is mod related as I don't have this issue. Granted, I only have one household consisting of 2 Sims active and I don't use any other, (not even ones created by the game). The only issue I did have is that I had changed the two Sim's last names, and one of the names had changed back. However, I ignored it and when I loaded the save next time, they had the intended last name again. So, it is possible that its also the game bugging out, but mine was only the last names and I do have mods and custom content.
@LindyIris10 I was going to say that the blacked out Sim was most likely one of your Sims not properly loading. I think the CAS is what loads the Sims into the game, and what you saw was the Sim partly loaded. Glad a Sim reset has been working.
(Talking to you both again), its very possible that one of your mods had given one or more Sims a trait and the game saw it as invalid. When you had removed the mods and the household with the affected Sims still didn't load, that tells me that it most likely couldn't remove the trait from the affected Sims.
As far as I know of, when a mod gets removed, all of its related elements goes away with it. (Such as if a mod adds a couch, and then you remove the mod, the couch would disappear.) Both of your Better Exceptions reports calls out a broken trait and in both of your reports, it also points to the CAS and its issue with traits. I'm not sure about others of the community, but my CAS has been loading as intended, so I do think the affected Sims have a bugged trait that the game isn't able to remove. (If you're wondering how resetting the Sim works even though it doesn't remove traits, is because it sets the Sim to a neutral state. If the trait, (for example), was "likes to stare off into space", whenever the Sim would stare off into space, that error would occur.)
For @LindyIris10 that trait appears to be related to a mod that takes care of children, as the error I saw them having was something about a "Nanny feeding baby". As for @S_Kitty91 its most likely another mod for you, as you haven't shared anything that would suggest what it could be.
In short: I think you both had a mod that had bugged some of your Sims, (and with the frozen time experience by @LindyIris10 that was probably from a bugged Sim interacting with the household, where they've must of did something that caused the time to freeze due to an exception). If you know the name of the broken trait, you can try to remove it by using the cheat console, (first, backup your saves).
- Press: Ctrl + Shift + C
- Type "traits. remove_trait <TraitName>" (without the quotes) into the cheat console
If a Sim does have a broken trait equipped, it would explain why the Better Exceptions report is saying there's a broken trait, but no broken mods.
You can also try removing all of the Sim's traits. (again, backup your saves):
- Press: Ctrl + Shift + C
- Type "traits.clear_traits" without the quotes into the cheat console, (it will clear the traits of the selected Sim, and may not clear modded traits)
Note: I've also found that when you enable the full CAS edit mode, ("cas.fulleditmode"), and you click the X to exit CAS without doing anything, it would promp you with "Exit Create a Sim" and "Reset Current Household". DO NOT CLICK on "Reset Current Household". I did that as a test, and it fully resetted the Sims back to the default state, where I had only one Sim, and they were a randomized default Sim.
I'm mentioning this as a warning. Luckily, if you hit the X again and then clicked on "Exit Create a Sim", it doesn't save the reset. Yet still, your CAS/Sims are currently bugged, (which is why I say to backup your saves).@Midnight9746 I've got them now. They just need the pinned topics in this forum.
- @luthienrising Sounds good, thank you!
@LindyIris10 Here's the topic on the names problem, which is also related to custom preferences: Solved: [MOD RELATED] Sims all get same name in CAS - Answer HQ
No problem and thanks again for lending a helping hand.
@luthienrising Thank you for for picking up on this thread and providing your SIM expertise.
- @Asmodeus566 Happy to help
@luthienrising One had also mentioned that when they removed their mods/cc, they still had an issue with the CAS. I'm not sure if the link you've provided would help with that, but just wanted to mention it.
"At first I couldn't even get the family to load into CAS, but when I took my CC folder out of my mods folder I was finally able to load into CAS with at least one family"
