a space for casual and low-skilled players?

From my perspective, Apex Legends is more and more about rubbing my nose in to what I WON'T get. I wonder, whether I – as a casual low-skilled player – will have a space reserved (by design) in Apex, in the future.

Used to getting run over

Since the days of Quake Arena and Unreal Tournament, I am used to getting run over by almost everybody else on the field. Years later, with my first ranked action in Overwatch, I got the relating numbers confirmed, too: rank number 1500, bronze/silver, meaning 90% of all players are better than me. And that's what it felt like, all the time.

Accepted. I am slow, got no nerves for aiming and keep utilizing questionable positioning. I am in there for the action, enjoy the excitement and the view, dig team play, never quit, stay friendly and try to keep sports-minded about failing in 90% of all encounters (in Apex).

Generally, not into spending a lot of money for cosmetics

Yep, this is not the game's fault. Just the first spot, where I see nice things in Apex I will never have. I have to deal with that.

Season 1 too hard to finish

Thus, I welcomed Season 1 as an opportunity both, to have a good way to finally pay and thus support the game AND to get some special cosmetics. But, I found that the rewards on the line were not THAT cool and also, after I gave everything I could in those weeks, I just reached lvl 52. Not (at all) near the really cool stuff in there. Looks like those cool weapon skins are not meant for me, either. I have to deal with that.

Ranked is not ranked

Now, when ranked arrived, I thought I will eventually find myself matched with players around my skill level. But, as EVERYBODY's ladder leads through Bronze and Silver upstairs, I am still matched with and against players totally out of my league. A pity, ranked in Apex does not offer me my space of (sort of) balanced matches (in Silver IV atm). I have to deal with that.

Skipped on Season 2

A bit low-spirited (after Ranked and S1 experience) I skipped on Season 2. Am lvl 9 there. Ofc, my own decision, but again those rewards there will be lost for me. I have to deal with that.

Iron Crown rewards based on paying money

In the last weeks, I have lost track in Apex. Discussions about refunds and stuff concerning Iron Crown event woke me up. As far as I see it, rewards are for the good players or/and those willing to spend money. Also, I am not very fond of playing solo. Thus, again, those very cool rewards are not meant for me. I have to deal with that.

I wonder ...

... whether the designers think of players like me (and their place in the game). I guess, it's too much to ask for special rewards for people constantly beaten in low level ranks. Like, your not good in the game, you're not doing many levels in a season, but thanks for staying and trying in a 1000 games and more, here you have your Persistence and Loyalty reward.

Right, this is a shooter, not a care package. But, besides the prime advice "Git gud", which basically says, we don't care about (players like) you, can't I hope for a little less deal with that in this very, very cool game? And a little more for we love you, too?

Standing ready for Season 3.
