I'm not talking about if a player is dc'd and can rejoin, I am talking about leaving before the game begins because a player is literally not there. In arena, if a player is completely not there, so they cant even rejoin, you can be punished for disconnecting from that game. In essence, Respawn and EA are so desperate to keep players in their game, they will punish you for disconnecting from their broken * servers. As if you are supposed to sit there and take it like a good child. How low will they stoop with this abandoned game? Any remaining programmers and IT specialists should quit if they are barred from fixing these problems, to make a statement.

I totally get the point you make about bugs. I'm a dev (not a game dev, but programming principles are transferrable). Things happen. BUTThere is a CLEAR lack of acknowledgement, addressing, or fixing of these issues from the Respawn team. Arenas has had incredibly poor MM since release and it has only gotten worse in Ranked Arenas. Normally a "bugs happen it takes time to iron them out" would be fine, but these are consistent ongoing issues with a long history. Issues in the Apex store get addressed within a business day, but matchmaking changes or fixing a simple boolean (true/false) that can cause a MM penalty for leaving a game with one/no teammates? Nah that can wait until next season, sorry we're too busy releasing cosmetics.

@swingingmeatbalzHey there, while I can understand the frustrations this may bring you I would like to point out that if there is no teammate in your arena match you can leave. I do want to ask though was you with a friend as a duo when this happened? Also did you allow yourself to be in the starting area on the ground to buy guns before trying to leave? Even if it gives you the notification there can be a punishment for leaving it sometimes is a false positive pop up. If this is the case then your duo will need to leave the game first before you. I leave games at times in arenas when someone is not there. I have never gotten the punishment for doing so.Would also like to note the game is not abandoned it is being worked on non stop around the clock. Some employees working countless hours well beyond the required time needed. They are trying. While it is easy for players to think things are just a simple fix I can assure all of them that hiccups in this industry do happen. Finding some bugs is and can be a needle in a haystack. It's not a simple oh I see this issue is happening let me go directly to the issue and fix it. It is a lot more complex than that.

@swingingmeatbalz this is happening in all ranked game modes.As far as I am hearing this is (yet another) fix from Respawn's side to DDoS attack situation.In short - some players used to DDoS server when they got knocked/eliminated so that game crashes and they don't get penalty, negative RP.Respawn could not prevent that I guess so they just introduced a code where if people disconnect they still get somehow "logged" as being in the game thus negating loss forgiveness.I even have had such bizarre cases where up till the end of the game there was no sign of the 3rd player in the team and only after elimination in a summary section I suddenly see the 3rd person's name and legend and of course 0 in all stats and moments later I get respective RP without loss forgiveness when it should be applied.Never felt better being Diamond 4 hardstuck :D

@SolitaryMassacreThe penalty message is by default it does not mean all the times it is shown it will send out a temp delay from making matches. I have put in around 5k matches in arena from its launch before and after adding this feature. I have never been given the 10 min penalty but once which made me think of a work around. Ended up being when i was partied with 1 person before entering the game that person had to leave before i did. Once they leave and i do there is no penalty for us. This also only worked if we was on the ground at gun selection phase. Not to say others have different experiences with it. This was just my experience and testing. Even solo queue when i leave I never get it if we are missing someone.

@SolitaryMassacre in regular Areanas penalty feature is in my opinion just off, game just don't care, does not check why who and when disconnected.

My point in the previous post is that when this check/system is on, operational, it fails to distinguish between players who disconnected, used some game exploit, were kicked by the server, etc. thus we have situations where people get penalties even though the team was not full.

@Eshshshss Yeah man. I have reached a point with this game where I can NOT play without friends online - it is simply not an enjoyable experience. Arenas is unplayable and BR is a huge gamble. 50% shot the team you fight can't even slide jump or turn around in game, and 50% shot the team you fight is a stack of pros/streamers trying to get a YouTube vid together.

I've gotten a penalty for closing out of the game when it was completely frozen. It froze right after we picked our legends in an arena game mode. It is absolute bs. I tried loading back in only to find I was already under a ten minute wait penalty for leaving. I didn't even get a chance or an option to rejoin the game.
