Aim punch/flinch

Has anyone figured out the mechanics of the aim punch/flinch, which is the shake of the crosshair you get when you get hit. The reason I ask is because, in my experience, it seems very inconsistent a...

@Babbediboopi Could be a combination of things, how powerful the weapons or armour is on console we have aim assist, cant really notice it
