Apex Map: Kings Canyon

To start off I also feel the rank system is broken and terrible. We have teams ratting out and teaming on one single player just to make it past first and second ring its outrageous. The major thing is King Canyon and it's terrible layout. Take it out of rank rotation. Matter of fact take it out forever. I get two tapped with vantage from across the map and cant do anything about it. I get full three stacked on as I'm trying to make it to ring. Never mind the amount of third parties I experience. The map is terrible. The rank system is disgusting. I'm starting to think Fortnite is better than this. I actually had to get off the game after two rank games because it was that bad. Disappointing really after being a fan of this game for some years.

  • Not sure why people are crying about in KC...my first start was on it (season 7 version) and I loved it ever since. I remember that shortly after that Olympus was the map in rotation and I could not figure it out + kept falling off the map but now I think that is my top 1 and 2 maps in the game.

Current rotation - KC, OLY, BM - I would say is my preferred combo as well.

KC is smaller I guess than the rest yet multi level at the same time quite open and with some tricky rotations. At the same time you can also use a lot of porting / building holding in here, I would even say more than in any other map.

KC overall is the problem for people who can't do either: rotate and engage in the fights in smart way -> getting thirded or shot across the map by snipers.
Add hacking to equation and yes you get very unpleasant experience. Tbh I think current Vantage and AA is already very annoying given first short is concealed now via her Ult and Controller players seem to get so much assist on those shots they hardly ever miss - almost like Ballistic queue.

Overall though I like that you can rotate in KC via basically any direction, rotations can be fast (balloons, Valks ult gets you over almost every wall in not all of them, evac towers), also you can spend significant time in the zone given the map is small and come up with quite unpredictable rotations. Many places to headglitch, imo nice end zones as well.

If you don't like "open" maps ... Olympus imo is much more open not to mention E-district where you can snipe almost across whole map if you really want to (well part within big walls). Also basically half of WE is quite open as well be it end zone on Climatizer side or Lava Siphon, Thermal side is also semi covered.

Long story short - it is not about the map it is about your ability to learn the map, end zones and adjust.

It is 100% the map. KC has been around since day 1 of apex legend and we're tired of seeing it. It should be canned for good and e district should take it's place. It's better in every single way. The devs themselves have said they know KC is not a good ranked map but I'm assuming they have other plans for E district with the algs so they're keeping it out of rotation so the pros can't get to used to playing it without making custom games. So algs stays fresh and a bit more chaotic. But in reality everyone literally everyone but you think KC should be canned. The player count actually drops on console every time KC and WE come up in rotation. The queues are 3x times longer than Broken moon and 10x that of E district easily. No one wants to play it. I have 200+ days on this game. I'm tired of KC and WE

  • Kings Canyon, E District, and Storm Point are my favorites. PLEASE don't make dramatic changes to where they don't look anything like their current form.

    KC is dope as is!

  • So wait a minute. Vantage downs have exactly what to do with the map? Getting third partied has what to do with the map? Getting gate kept by a sweaty stack has what to do with the map?

The map didn't shoot at you and down you. You didn't have a plan for cover in a wide open space in a game that has sniper weapons.

The map didn't third party you. You went somewhere you didn't need to go and probably did it at the worst possible time. It isn't hard to know where people drop, or where they will move after the first circle is revealed. Use that information to avoid trouble. Or use it to find it. Either way the choice belongs to the squad, not to the map.

The map didn't gate keep you. A squad with a better understanding of position and timing did. There are ways to avoid those situations. Learn them. Use them.

The map is fine. If you learn how to play it.
