This game is the opposite of fun as a new player. Land, get shot in 2 seconds, die, leave lobby, repeat. When you do actually manage to get a gun, it's probably one of the crappy ones that takes over 9000 bullets to kill someone but when you get shot you die in 3 hits.
Pls make newbie only servers, and/or add versus AI so I can actually get a chance to play this game, thx.
I think this sentiment is true in any multiplayer game, BR genre especially. There is for sure a learning curve that can turn some folks off. All I can say is persist persist persist. It wont take all that long to figure things out. Jn the meantime, I would check in on any of the dozens of discord servers with LFG and ask for people that are noob friendly. We do exist.
I for example am on PS4 and CryoSpartan is my tag. I cant carry anybody as I am not good enough. I am patient though and have fun simply by playing, not just winning.

matchmaking is probably coming, hopefully in the near future as there are plenty of people that will leave if it does not as the current system, or lack thereof, is simply not fun
Yeah that's a nice idea and all but how long do you think someone is willing to get decimated in seconds by people with ridiculous stats in the hopes of getting better at a game?
@KextV8 : Don't dispair. Try to land as far as possible from the dropship's flight plan. Jumping later can be a good way to spot uncharted/unlooted territories, but it can make finding such spot difficult... Some teammates hate landing on those spots, but they are better if you want to learn the basics. If you aim is bad like mine, well... playtime, training and YouTune are probably your best bet.
What platform are you playing on? PC? Console?
I hope skill-based-matchmaking is in this games future...
..but even if we get it.. it doesn't totally solve the problem in a free-to-play game, because skilled players just "reroll" a new character to get into the trash skill queue so they can have more fun killing people. It's the nature of PvP games unfortunately.
I recommend you join an apex discord and get into premades with players who know what they are doing... drop less hot... learn... and climb the ranks like all of us are doing. Here are my three favorite APEX discords...
