@UnifiedMuffin Congratulations, most players don't make it out of Gold. If you're finding it difficult to progress, you are either playing solo or you have correctly reached the difficulty which is too hard for you to pass.
Currently in ranked if you are say, in diamond, it would match you with platinum+pred players (So the tier below and above). This was done to reduce the amount of players camping endgame, it did make a difference and ranked did feel more fluid.

@MoNosDirtyGaming Come on man you know that's not true. The only reason they are matching plat with diamond and master/pred is because they can't fill lobbies anymore since most people stopped playing (ranked). On KC after dark I was playing the same squads every single match lol, in pubs and ranked I have the same happening to me. Not only that, but usually the random I get paired up with has stats like OP. There is no balance or ranked integrity in this game and it's killing it. The only time I play and actually have fun is when I smurf with a friend.
Maybe a longer queue time to help balance the games would be beneficial. I wouldn't mind waiting an extra minute to be able to have a more balanced game with people around my skill/experience level.

Most players in ranked now wait for you to push, rather than being aggressive.
In seasons 1-2 the endgame circle was awful, 10+ squads hiding in corners of the map, nobody would push, they would only move if the circle made them,1-2 teams would be fairly aggressive but the rest would hide. In the last 7 days when I got from bronze 4 - Plat 1, I did so by camping also and avoiding fights entirely, because it was pointless and you did not gain anything from it.
Season 2, wattson was released, again in the last 7 days, predicting the circle and camping with wattson in a house after having both teammates die on me, every single game. The final circles now had 10-8 squads. Again players would only move if the circle made them.
Season 3 was G7 for most of the season, again, the last 7 days, camping was still happening.
Season 4/5 they changed it so that we were matched with a tier above and below, but this time, because the tiers were matched up against each other and some players had a lot less to lose and others had more to lose, a mix of camping and rushing ensued.
Season 6 we now have a fluid ranked game mode, the endgame is always interesting, you generally have players who sit on highground and beam others, camping still happens don't get me wrong, but no where near as much as most people feel more inclined to fight than previous seasons.
Apex has had issues with filling up ranked matches, and I have also played against the same number of players, but it is to do with the timing of when you play, for example, if you play ranked at 3am onward on any server; it takes a longer time to find a match than normal, you will be placed with the same players if you are readying up when they do too.
My randoms are awful too, usually consisting of levels 20-499, but it isn't always bad, sometimes i'm matched with preds. Again though they end up getting dropped and rage quitting which is an entirely new issue altogether.
When you smurf and have fun that is because you're pub stomping; because you're winning, fights, games etc. If apex was created around the intention to bully new players then I guess not many new players actually would want to play it.
