Energy Weapon Feedback
Devotion
Pros
- High-damage when charged
Negs
- Extremely low rate of fire when uncharged
- Rarely worth collecting
- Sparse ammo
Justification
In short, the Devotion is probably one of the weapons players tend to avoid unless they happen to come across a Turbocharger first. Too little ammo, too high charge time. It needs a damage increase to make the sparcity of the ammo actually count towards something, and the extremely low rate of fire be a compensation for something considering any other weapon can kill a player without shields quicker than the devotion can charge up.
Havoc
Pros
- Better than some pistols
- The ability to switch firing modes is quite unique and nice, but is simply a gimmick really
Negs
- Terrible hip-fire accuracy
- Poor charge time
- Low damage for what it is
- Low magazine capacity
Justification
The weapon is again a weapon most players will avoid. The lack of stability make it feel less stable than the devotion, and if that is actually true, then it makes no sense. Again, the Havoc is hindered by the lack of ammo across the map, and the weapon really isn't justifiable to be picked up considering how poor it performs unless you can find that Turbocharger.
Tripletake
Pros
- Actually quite reliable across short and medium ranges
- Decent damage
Negs
- Not many are randomised as loot (far easier to find a Wingman than it is a Tripletake)
- Attachment modification
Justification
I first avoided the Tripletake because I thought it was a Sniper Rifle, or Marksman Rifle. It turns out it's more of a Shotgun that works upto Medium ranges with a slow rate of fire. I'd prefer additional customisation options to the Tripletake, and have the optics option removed, since there's very little need for kitting out a Tripletake with Optics since it's damage drop off is so high (or at least appears to be). A headshot at relatively medium range does 42 damage as I discovered earlier, and at that same range, someone did 135~ damage to me in the same time frame with what appeared to be an R301. If this weapon is supposed to be a Sniper Rifle, it needs a serious buff in damage. Perhaps the Tripletake should be the only weapon in the game that could do upwards of 120 damage with a headshot?
In conclusion, I feel the Energy weapons in general are really poorly constructed in comparison to all other weapons types. Not only are they hard to find, but their ammo is as well... and as such you actually find that you hinder yourself if you carry one around anymore than from the initial combat your squad gets into, because there's a very high chance that one of the other squad will have a weapon that far supercedes any energy weapon you're carrying.
With energy weapons as sparce as they are, I feel these weapons should be pushed to the top of the Damage Per Second charts, and made worthwhile in picking up and dealing with the sparcity issue, instead of having them as placeholders that are traded at the earliest possible time.
