- @WreckingVi Dropping in a hot Zone, Anyone that gets Mastiff is in huge advantage. Specially if they are multiple other enemies to fight. 2 screenshots to see the two tap on hot zones.
WAIT your telling me hot dropping success is mostly based off luck!?!?!?!? crazy stuff... - @Westhebird No, I say Mastiff beats almost all other weapons. Luck plays a role but Mastiff being OP plays a bigger role. Understanding this is that hard?
@WreckingVi There were people that defended broken hitbox Pathfinder so I'm skeptical of the community's stance on anything unless they have a good argument.
A shotgun does high damage at close range. Expected. Can you better explain your issue with that?
- @WreckingVi I still feel like it should be a care package weapon. It doesn't feel right being floor loot. They legit made cool peacekeeper skins, (the ice and blood one), and then care packaged it. The Mastiff has a wide range feel to it, while the peacekeeper is more focused on a center point.
Problem is that it hits pretty good from range, and too fast reload speed. You know in these games shotguns are balanced based on the slow reload speed, but if you count the dps from them, they are too op in this game. Mastiff and eva-8.
@Midnight9746 When it was a carepackaged weapon players were complaining that the PK felt stronger. Mastiff did higher damage but was limited in term of range and consistency.
Also a wide spread can be good or bad for a shotgun. Higher chance for the gun to hit but lower chance the shot does high damage.
@CrashA320 Every gun in this game has the potential to compete at ranges that they shouldn't. R-99 and especially the Volt are better at distance combat than they should be. Wingman used to win sniper fights against the longbow.
Ignoring all that though.... The Mastiff loses to 70% of all weapons outside of close range. It isn't "pretty good" at range.
Problem is that it's used 90% within close range, and makes way too high win rates. They buffed gibby to the roof saying that the win rate was too low, and nerfed Wraith belowground saying the opposite. They should take a look at the mastiff win rates, and they would see that the win rate with mastiffs are way too high. Problem is that during these "balancing" acts I see their preference. Or the other explanation to that is that they can't read statistics (which they can according to the Gibby-Wraith case)...
This way they will force all players to learn and use shotguns, and they can remove all other weapons from this game, and the ones with the better bots will win. I'm sure they did not work hard to achieve this.
@CrashA320 If it's win rate is truly high then you have a good point. The only flaw in that argument is that the Mastiff will never be out when you're fighting mid-long range which would drastically effect the stats.
R301 might be used in a fight at any range but nobody will seriously try to take on a distant fight with a Mastiff. Unless it's the only gun they have.
There's a poster that believes shotguns should be treated as secondaries or finisher weapons. This is the only acceptable argument for taking away it's close range dominance.
I don't agree with doing so but the reasoning behind it is decent.
- @Zamaha400 Problem is that the new map aims to be very small and loot distribution encourages mass drops and therefore the use of shotguns. No point fighting against them, not even with a full kitted R99, because they say f U and kill with the damn shotgun. My point is that it gives too much advantage. 1shot1kill shotgun should not be a thing, especially with ridiculous reload times... To be honest I play Apex since season 1, have more than 2k hours in it, and this is the first time time I'm starting to think about leaving it for good. Devs force us to play one way, and I know it looks good and it's cool, but thank you, I wanna play the game the way I want.
