Inventory management suggestions
Hello Respawn!
I have a few suggestions to improve the already good inventory management of Apex. I sorted them by how much I wish they were implemented in the game.
-One thing that bothers me A LOT is that I keep loosing my optics. Most of the times when you loot you don't have a weapon out, so I forget what weapon I stored last, even if it's indicated on HUD, especially in a rush and when I pick optics often I drop the optics from my main weapon when I meant to mount it on the other one.
The thing is that with every other accessory if you have the slot occupied in the last stored weapon or the weapon out, it automatically puts it on the other weapon, but with optics it doesn't work that way. And you can't swap an accessory for a less rare one, but with optics you can. In my opinion, the possibility to drop the optics you have equipped for one on the ground of a less rare cathegory should be on the secondary interaction button.
There's nothing more frustrating to pull a sniper to find it with a 1X optics you meant to pick for a shotgun or SMG and it happens to me very often, since some optics are rare I would actually prefer the game to stop my movement to ask "Are you sure you want to drop a 4X-8X for a 1X?", but I don't suggest that obviously.
Please improve the optics management, leave the possibility to downgrade it by picking it from the ground for a lesser rare one to the secondary interaction button and put them in the backpack if I pick them up from the ground with the main interaction button, I almost never mean to put a 1X or a 2X on an assault where I have a 3X or a sniper that has a sniper specific optics but I end up doing it very often by mistake, this should really only happen with the secondary interaction button, especially if the weapon has an optics specific for that cathegory of weapons.
If you loot from a deathbox, it should be clearly indicated what optics you are dropping in the box I should see from the list what optics I am dropping but still rush situations can lead to unwanted optics swap and I still think that a downgrade in rarity should still only be possible with the secondary interaction button.
If someone wants to do that, make it possible but not with the main interaction button press, you spam it a lot while looting and you may end swapping optics when you don't want do that, loose a rare one and realize it when you need it.
This is the reason I wrote this list, it bothers me a lot. PLEASE, DO THIS RESPAWN, REALLY, this ruined more games to me than you would think.
- When you put a fire selector on a Prowler, you have to remember to put it on auto, but the double trigger on G7 and EVA 8 automatically swap the mode. Give a constant rule to this, since if you believe that I may not want to automatically swap the Prowler to auto, which actually I want to and I'm sure I'm not the only one, I say that EVA and G7 should not automatically swap too. I want to have it, but I prefer it to be in single shot mode by default, double tap is more effective only when close and at first shots I'm always not ready to manage the recoil between the two shots.
Personally I swap mode on all three weapons as soon as I get the hop up, especially on Prowler.
- I can only drop a full slot of ammo, there are tight situations when I wish I could give to a teammate less than a full slot of ammo and keep some. Let's say I have 80 heavy rounds and a Wingman and an ally asks for heavy ammo. I don't really need all 80 but I can't give 60 to him because otherwise I would not be able to reload. I think it would be awesome that if I drag to drop a stack, I was prompted to enter the amount.
-If I pick an accessory compatible with both my weapons and weapon 1 has a lesser one, the accessory should be always be mounted on weapon 1 and the lesser one should go on weapon 2 if the slot is empty or there's an even lesser one there. Of course in that case drop the accessory that was previously on weapon 2.
I think most players put their favourite weapon on 1 and the less favourite on 2 and that they want their favourite to has the best gear they pick.
- Why can't I move if with full inventory I try to pick something and I'm prompted to indicate what item I mean to drop? If I go too far the death box prompt disappears, why can't this work the same?
- Why can't I drop an accessory I have mounted with a simple right click like everything else? I often find myself giving a fire selector to a teammate that has a Prowler, but if I have an Havoc, where it's less useful, it automatically mounts and I have to drag it if I want to drop it. And even if it's not a situation that happens in the game, I can't remove an accessory from a weapon and put it in the inventory. Why?
-I wish there was a way to drop an item from inventory and ping it at the same time. It slows things down when you have ammo or accessories in inventory that you don't use anymore and you drop them and you want to notify your allies about it, or you want to give a syringe to your ally. Also, there's no way to ping or tell the difference between a stock of items and a single one.
I may not want to go pick a syringe, but for a stack of four I may want to. I have to ask how many very often.
-When picking accessories from a loot box, you can automatically mount them only in the weapon you stored last. Aside that the weapon swap button brings up the weapon I stored last and not the other one, which makes no sense, do I really need to bring up a weapon to mount an accessory to it? I wish I could have two buttons instead of the weapon swap button, one for each weapon, with the one you are mounting accessories on highlighted and to be able to just indicate to what weapon mount the accessory I pick without the delay of drawing it, because even if the game does not have that delay in equipping accessories, I need to know what weapon I'm mounting accessories to, so I need to wait the draw time. And if it's not the last stored one, two times. It's annoying.
- It happens that I want to give a gold backpack I found to a Bangalore or a Lifeline, as have they abilities that make them more useful for reviving. Or I try to give a weapon I have to a teammate. Or I accidentally pick up a weapon I don't want. In all those cases, you mass drop a lot of items and it's a chore to sort everything back and you often leave something behind because you missed it. May the second interaction button make me mass pick those items back if I try to pick swap or pick back the backpack or weapon? if they are in the pick range of course.
- It bugs me that I can't carry some items, or even weapons. I often ask my teammates to bring me something, but not everything is carriable. I see that it may be a problem if I'm able to carry two body shields for example and I swap them in combat, but even then making the equipped item unusable immediately if you decide to swap it and a long delay before the item in the inventory becomes active should do. Same if I drop it from inventory, a long delay before they become active should do. Or something else, but I wish I was able to bring an auxiliary shield or an helmet to a teammate if I'm closer to it when looting than he is. If I really want to, I can anyway move almost those not carriable items to another position by swapping them until destination.
