I suppose the dev would say it's on the survivors to make their own call as to how best to get you back on the ground. In my experience survivors often just go to the nearest beacon, a rookie move that usually ends in a wipe. If they even bother to try getting you back at all.
On the other hand I've also come to understand through experience that if you ping anything that's farther away than the end of their nose then you will be ignored. A way point, a harvester, an arsenal, good loot, transport... they just don't care. They care about what's in front of them or an enemy. They'll sprint half way across the map in three seconds flat if they think it will end in gunplay.
I know what you're saying, but the best solution would be a mic.
