My thoughts about the new season changes

I have never been more excited for a season like I am right now. They have done a really good job and they obviously care for the game a lot more than what the majority of players think.

For those of you who don’t know yet: They are buffing all assault class legends and nerfing support class next season. Along with other changes like buffing every gun and consequently reducing TTK.

All those changes seems well and healthy for the game but here is what I wished for in addition to these changes:

No talk yet about Seer or caustic buffs and changes yet which sucks because these two legends are lacking a lot of power.

Fuse passive (carrying two throwables) is now irrelevant since every assault legend will be able to do that and I was expecting a small replacement.

And finally this is a very important point. I think it’s healthy for the game to have a character that can directly silence abilities at the cost of their own since that means that no matter what the meta is. Someone can always make the fight a gun fight instead of abilities fight. On top of that I think that no legend should be completely changed from the bottom up to the top like what they did with revenant for many obvious reasons and one of them is eliminating a playstyle. Also with all assault class buffs coming next season I can’t help but think about potential of old revenant with all these assault buffs and the upgrades tree. He could have been the only one who can stand against the support meta and completely shut it down.

I've actually got to the point where I'm way more interested in what the distribution curve tells me than I am in the match. And honestly, I'm not sure if I've misunderstood which data they're presenting, or am somehow not reading it correctly, but: What I see in matches where I check no fill is exactly what I would expect to see and it's consistent from one match to another. What I see when I'm in a squad does not always make sense. Best example is this: I've seen a match or two where the curve looked identical to the one above. I would assume that means that no one in the entire match falls outside of the grey area. Including myself. And yet when I solo my "team" of just me always presents as a red line that hits the exact high point of the bell curve. If I'm that statistically average player, then how am I suddenly, when teamed, in any part of the grey area when it falls well to the right of the bell curve peak? Makes no sense to me. What am I missing???

yea i noticed the same, i guess that visible bell curve doesnt reflect the general game skill curve nor the curve of active players in that lobby (it would just give too much information about their well guarded hidden MMR i guess), so the position of the grey area has to be taken with a grain of salt

I've kept chewing on it and what may be going on is this: the grey does not represent the range of skill of every individual in the match. It represents the range of skill of each team averaged, just as the red line represents the average of the three members of your own squad. It makes sense, but it also shows that there will be players in every match, probably a lot of them, who fall well outside the grey area, and that is not good matchmaking. It doesn't matter if they're far higher or far lower than the average. It just doesn't make for a good match, and that it consistent with the way matchmaking has been for several seasons now, and it also explains why it isn't any better this season, even though the information "unintentionally" makes things look okay. Very clever, Respawn.

    "PREFERENTIAL MM: SOLOS VS PREMADES

A desire for premades to play only against premades and solos to only play against solos is something we’ve frequently heard, but a full splitting of the queues isn’t a possibility that we’re going to pursue in the near future. We need to keep premade squads and solo queueing players together to maintain healthy queue populations and ensure that matchmaking quality isn’t compromised. "

Man, those jokes are hilarious. Which matchmaking quality ?!?!

  • That statement they put out, shows you how actually disconnected they truly are from the game itself - regardless of all the other things they do and say. Hey Respawn - play your game, better yet, convince the ones above you forcing garbage decisions down your throat to play the game. Maybe they'll finally understand?
