I find it weird that a you are saying newcastle is both hand-me-downs of other characters, yet is somehow superior to lifeline? He gets a scooter and a breakable shield (that only becomes viable with knockdown equipment), both of which pale in comparison to passive revives and literally infinite healing with no equipment requirements. Swear do people play newcastle before they say "newcastle killed lifeline?" They are probably the ones I end up with in solo-que who lock in newcastle and either never revive (the former gibby mains testing if they can main him now) or revive right in front of an enemy then either get themselves, or the person they were reviving wrecked thinking they were invincible.

Seer is an alternative to Bloodhound.
Newcastle can be better than Gibraltar, and have a more corrected gameplay of the abilities of other characters.
I do not think that he was bad or killed Lifeline.

Other than Liners heal drone, New Castle is a better lifeline.
New Castle as exactly what ASKE mentioned above....A hybrid between Gibb, Liner, Rampart. Look at his abilities, they speak for them selves.
Ash is a hybrid between Wraith and Loba
Vantage is a hybrid between Octane and Seer, rampart and valk.
Seer is a redo of bloodhound, just in a more extreme cheap way.
ASKE is trying to point out that Respawn is running out of unique ideas for Legend abilities and instead of thinking up new abilities that continue to be unique such as the originals, or capping out new legends..... that they are taking already made abilities and recycling them.

But these are not just comments about the lack of creativity.
I think the game loses potential.
From the point of view of developers, it is much easier to create a good balanced character on old mechanics that players will like. (Portal healer, improved alternative to Crypto, or any mix)
But despite this - as a result, the game becomes a monotonous, repeating and predictable because of repeating the mechanic. People in the game will spend less time.
