Signed.
Today, after experiencing a dozen of so *casual* games all chock full of diamond & apex predators, for the first time *ever* I found myself saying "This isn't fun".
My duo partner agreed. We stopped playing.
By introducing SBMM into casual, they've:
1) Made solo & duo queuing nonviable for good+ players.
The higher up you go, the more important teamwork becomes.
The quality of teamwork with randoms is obviously far inferior to that of pre-made teams.
As SBMM doesn't seem to have any issue queuing pre-made squads, with randoms, solo/duo queuing is now just as suicidal as it is in ranked.
2) Forced everyone to play "try-hard mode" all the time.
Playing "well" is hard; it requires constant thought & concentration. Consequently it's tiring & stressful.
Casual used to be about kicking back, and having some fun playing with sub-optimal legends, and making yolo pushes.
It was obviously never optimal, but it was *fun*.
If I want stressful gameplay, I'll play ranked.
3) Broken friend groups, as mixed-skill pre-mades are no-longer viable.
Not everyone on my friends list plays at the same level; some are better, some are much worse.
If I play with them, they'll get pulled into terribly imbalanced games; we'll lose, they'll achieve very little, and the frustration will lead them to quit.
4) Made it harder for players to come back to the game.
I've just returned from a 2 week Apex hiatus; I'm obviously not playing at the same level that I was.
SBMM is matching me against opponents I don't stand a chance against at my current ability.
I can look past most of the bad Apex decisions Respawn has made over the past few months, but SBMM in casual fundamentally breaks the game for me.
If it isn't reverted, I think I'm properly done with Apex.
