@JonasDumac Fun fact, a lot of players don't even give you a chance to realize they have a Mastiff, until you're point blank.
There's three ways to notice the Mastiff:
- You hear someone else getting shot at
- You're trying to charge them and they're shooting at you
- You have snipers or something else, and can see what guns they're using.
Even with the sniper one, 99.9% of the time for me, the other player isn't going to be in the open or somewhere where I can find out they have a Mastiff until it's too late.
The Mastiff just needs to be nerfed already, I can be 15+ meters, and players are still hitting me for 42+. I was about 8-12 meters when I took that 112 damage, and further away (with high ground) when I took the 42. In another Mastiff thread, I took more damage to a single shot (like 124 or something).
I was Revenant, so no fortified or low profile. I've shot the firing range dummies, who should also have fortified or low profile, and I couldn't get that high in damage, no matter how close or far away I was. Honestly don't know what gives.
I also did damage tests, and found that the Mastiff only did like 11 or so less damage than the Peacekeeper. It's essentially the Peacekeeper, but cooler. Keep in mind the Peacekeeper was buffed when it was put into the care package. So, in reality, it would be doing around the same amount of damage.
Would you rather have a gun that can 1-2 tap someone with refillable ammo, or one that can 1-2 tap, but can't be refilled with ammo? That's literally the difference other than the Mastiff having a wider spread.
My chances of killing a Peacekeeper player is higher than killing a Mastiff player. Peacekeeper, you have room to dodge. Mastiff... Eh not so much.
You can pretty much kill anyone in two hits. Imagine a team all running Mastiff. You'll won't survive at all, because all it takes is two people to pull the trigger for you to go down. The Mastiff has 6 shots. That's 18 shots that can shread you, assuming the player misses or you got lucky.
Best way to deal with Mastiff players is to snipe or arc star them down. Cuz, like you essentially said, they can out preform any gun.

@Midnight9746Honestly Im ready to quit the game, I’m just not having fun anymore the lack of solos is a major part of it but the mastiff is also part of the reason because 1 mastiff is enough and every team having 2-3 of them is bull you can be actually having a good game and get 2 tapped by a mastiff in seconds I watched Jankz or soofar maybe kobi I dont remember just that they were doing amazing to just get 2 tapped by a mastiff at the end with double headshots...
I just don’t even have the motivation to play this game anymore, I’m at the point I can’t even do my daily quests last night took me forever to do 400 damage with a g7 scout and today i can’t even do 2 assault rifle kills I just don’t have the energy to do anything and my brain isn’t working I can barely take care of myself yet alone 2 spam pingers I just want solos so I can 1 v 1 instead of 1 v 2 or 1 v 3 if it was solos I would of been done with this bull by now but the 2nd+3rd member keep killin me just add solos already before I uninstall
truth is I’m not enjoying anything anymore, it doesn’t matter what i play Its just not helping everythings boring
Mastiff still needs to be nerfed. This is getting very stupidly annoying. One "hit" = 127. That's like a little less than a Kraber shot if didn't hit the player's head, which already makes it HEIRLOOM TEIR.
Still needs a nerf. I shot first and nearly emptied the mag. The player just double tabs and I'm dead. That's not fair that Mastiff players can instantly knock other players with little to no effort.I still hope a Dev actually balances this gun. All people are running is Mastiff. You might as well be stuck in a room with no exits, while a Caustic traps and ults on you. Because that's how much you're screwed when a team rolls up on you with a Mastiff.
- @Midnight9746 They have plans to bring out the peacekeeper soon, so I’m fairly certain they are just going to put the mastiff back into care packages and then bring it back in a few seasons... I just hope they nerf it a ton before bringing it back again
The 8.1 patch notes are supposed to be 3000+ words so we will find out soon I guess
