Organization legend skins

Apex should design skin associated with organizations. Take TSM for example, they have quite a large fan base and I am sure that there is a huge profit to be made by designing skins for organizations such as TSM, Complexity, NRG, Rogue, etc. I do not know the logistics associated with this, but I am sure that the organizations would support this idea in order to turn a profit for themselves aswell. This could be a part of expanding the in-game store. This should not take away from the in-game skins themselves, which is another point, I believe the in-game skins should be more prevalent in the store. In order for this idea to work, designers should be producing more skins for the legends, whether they be re-colors or new skins added to the legends themselves. It’s season 6 and we still have the same legend skins as in season 1 except for ones we have to buy. I am in no way criticizing the game, I think it is a wonderful game, I am simply attempting to offer a new perspective for the art of the game.

Thank you
P.S. I think gun skins could work the same way, this could be the first stepping stone by creating organization gun skins and seeing how mush of a profit they turn. Also, Snip3down has a great video where I developed a great deal of my post from.

  • @Cody243243243 Sorry but i have to disagree. Its not healthy for a game to have the professional aspect shoved into the game down everyone elses throat. I can tell from Siege and Overwatch that it won't end well. You give pro players an unneccesary amount of leverage on the Devs and community which will result in changes most people don't want (also applies to streamers should they decide to partner them more closely).

Professional players only care about the community in so far as they watch and support the league rather than still enjoy the game by themselves. The typical results are but not limited to: Stale metas because they don't feel like adapting, game balance done to their liking to create metas which may not suitable for the majority of the playerbase and an increase of insufferable clowns that break and bend the rules however they like. Hell in OW its nowadays a practice to witch hunt and dox people with an impressionable child army just because of an opinion on social media, Blizzard of course being completely cool with it.

@BigBlackCausticAh I agree with these statements. I don't really give "pro gamers" my backing with "their" complaints... I mean, we all are valued players- and our voices should be heard just as much as theirs. I see complaints made from "pro's" but I'm thinking... "Who, of everyone playing this game, have a full-time job gaming?" League of Legends has such a high skill ceiling that they have to constantly change the meta and make adjustments because there's so many "pro's" and casual gamers playing the same game. At least in Apex Legends, I can still compete with those skilled sharpshooters -but just in different ways; And without getting destroyed by a "20-hit combo" so-to-speak.

(I got off on a tangent sorry...)

  • @StarMystroIm not saying they shouldn't be valued or even disrespected. And data from pro leagues are definitely a good point to consider when it comes to balance changes.
I'm saying that if the support by devs/publisher goes a little to far then the leverage could be used in ways that ultimatily harms both the community and the game itself. No one wants a game thats more fun to watch in pro leagues than it is to actually play like OW, not to mention Jeff, in his almighty wisdom assumed that every streamer and OWL pro is automatically so holy and righteous that Jesus isn't even any competition and allows them to do literally whatever they want including doxxing and harrassment (just don't have any political opinion that would make China label you as an undesirable and you'll be fine).

I see your point, but also that was not the point of my post. I do agree that pros running the scene would be a bad thing, but they would not earn any revenue from these skins. Only the teams would earn the money, therefore enabling them to invest more money into the game. I have seen this benefit games in a huge way. Smite is an example, if you haven’t heard of it, it is a small not very know MOBA similar to LOL. They started putting team skins in the game and it was a huge hit, multiple players were buying the skins and this allow them to put more money into developing the game and also up the prize money for tourneys. All in all, I just want the game to grow, with more money put into the game by organization will grow the return from tourneys. This could attract more pro-players which can have a strong influence on how popular the game can become. A simple way to Implement this is by creating skins for the legends used by the winning team of the world tourney for that winning team. Thank you for your reply.

  • @StarMystro Balance is the key word, its EXTREMELY hard to balance legends and items/weapons in ways not only to make each one unique and functional for their purpose, but also have everyone, the new, the pro and average in mind.

I could also of course go on a massive rant about BHVR and DBD who took the opposite extreme to balancing and did not release a single update since 2018 that was not aimed to decrease the skill requirements and ceiling for the game in all aspects, they aim their balance exclusively for new players which caused the overall game (and huge part of its community) to be braindead, even compared to a button masher mobile game. There are only 2 Killers left that take any skill left to play and defeat, Trapper and the Hag, and the latter is very likely the next one to get lobotomized.

IMO, despite some disagreements with Respawn i have to say compared to all Ubisoft studios, Blizzard, BHVR, Riot games etc. Respawn really does manage to walk that line and does overall, in the big picture, an amazing job all things considered.

As long as they don't get to run anything relating to Apex i'd be fine with it. I would personally never buy any of them but also not ruin it for those who do. I just fear that it could go the way of Siege and OW, thats all.

@Cody243243243 Perhaps... you make a valid point. Such popularity could enhance the longevity of our game. For the sake of a common goal, I agree with your statement.
You mentioned League of Legends- I myself played it quite a bit back then. DOTA was very similar- not a bad game! It actually came out before LoL, but because LoL was more popular...

@BigBlackCausticIt's good to see a fellow soul who's witnessed the... "changes" throughout DbD's life. I miss Mathieu Cote! ...and the early days of Dead by Daylight.

  • @StarMystroSome older employees told a story about how its a virtually completely new Dev team behind the scenes with no clue, patience or experience. I wouldn't call DBD dead just like For Honor yet, but last time i checked there is still an average wait time of 15-20 minutes.

You can't deny how incompetent they are once you realize how much nerfs they put to Killers that were mid-tier that literally no one was asking nerfs for. Pig is the poster child who got nerfed from b-tier into the ground for no real reason with literally every update for a year straight. Even the most biased surv mains memed how stupid that was.
