Rampart Upgrade Amped Cover
Rampart is a mechanic and upgrade-specialist. So what if she could activate the Amped Cover she's placed, say by holding activate like a Loba blackmarket, to open an interface like the current Replicators where she could build upgrades for her Amped Cover using the three Amped Covers she can store as materials, along with other stuff optionally?
Something like: Rampart places down one Amped Cover and holds activate on it to bring up a selection wheel where she can choose different upgrades for the Amped Cover that cost stored Amped Cover to create. Upon selecting an upgrade it takes the required Amped Covers and/or items from her, then pops up a progress indicator like the current Replicators do, and after some time her Amped Cover is now upgraded.
You could have all sorts of upgrades like
- Shots through the Amped part do even more damage but the hp of the Amped part is reduced significantly
- Upgrade the Amped Cover using any type of grenade and when an enemy walks near the outside of the Cover it detonates the grenade
- Upgrade the Amped Cover using Sheila to get an Amped Cover with the Minigun mounted on it that's much tankier than normal
- Make the Amped part like one-way glass, so from the outside the whole thing looks solid but from the inside you can see out
- Remove the increased damage from the Amped part but make it much tankier
- Electrify the Cover so when an enemy touches it or tries to climb over they take damage and get slowed like crossing a Wattson fence
A big issue for sure though is that Rampart is already a legend who really needs to camp to see the greatest effect, and this would only increase that problem, all while Apex games are getting shorter and shorter. I don't see it making a ton of casual players pick up Rampart, but maybe in ranked she'd see some more use? And it sounds like fun!
It was an interesting sounding idea that was floating around in my head, what are people's thoughts? Other upgrades?
