Ranked matchmaking while playing solo queue on PS5

Hi, I would like to report an issue that I have been experiencing consistently with Ranked matchmaking while playing solo queue on PS5.

I am an experienced high-rank player. I have previously reached Master, then reached Diamond II, and reached Diamond II again in a more recent season a few months ago.

The same problem, however, continues to persist.

In the current Ranked season, I have repeatedly managed to reach Diamond IV. At one point I was approximately 600–700 PC into Diamond IV, but after a long series of extremely inconsistent solo-queue matches, I dropped all the way back to Platinum I, where I am currently around halfway through the rank.

I want to make something very clear: I am not asking for my lost PC back, and I am not complaining because Diamond lobbies are difficult.

I have reached Master before and Diamond II multiple times, so I am familiar with high-level Ranked gameplay and I know what is expected in these lobbies.

The problem is the enormous inconsistency in the level of teammates I receive while solo queuing.

Some matches are perfectly fine. When I get teammates who understand positioning, rotations, when to engage or disengage, and how to play together, I can consistently gain PC and compete in Diamond lobbies.

But far too often I am matched with players who appear completely unprepared for Diamond-level Ranked. Some split away from the squad for no reason, repeatedly take isolated fights, refuse to rotate with the team, abandon advantageous positions, or make decisions that effectively grief the match for the entire squad.

This has happened repeatedly, not just in one or two unlucky games.

I have repeatedly climbed back to Diamond IV, won matches and gained significant amounts of PC, only to lose that progress again during long streaks of extremely unbalanced solo-queue matchmaking.

My Ranked history — Master, followed by Diamond II and then Diamond II again — shows that I am capable of competing above Diamond IV. Yet the current solo-queue experience often feels as though the outcome is heavily affected by enormous differences in skill, experience and game awareness between randomly assigned teammates.

I fully accept losing against better Diamond, Master or Predator players. That is part of Ranked. What is frustrating is being expected to compete against high-level opponents while being repeatedly matched with teammates who appear to be significantly below the level required for the lobby.

Please investigate how solo-queue squads are assembled, particularly around Diamond IV, and whether the matchmaking system is allowing excessive differences in skill or Ranked experience between teammates.

Ranked should be difficult because the opponents are good, not because solo players repeatedly have to overcome enormous inconsistencies within their own randomly assigned squad.

Platform: PlayStation 5
Mode: Ranked — Solo Queue
Region: Europe
Previous ranks: Master → Diamond II → Diamond II
Current season: Repeatedly reached Diamond IV
Peak during the recent climb: Diamond IV + approximately 600–700 PC
Current rank after the losing streak: Platinum I, approximately halfway through the rank

Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback. I hope the solo-queue matchmaking experience, particularly in Diamond and above, can be reviewed.

would also like to clarify one important point about my previous Ranked results.

After reaching Master, I reached Diamond II in two different seasons. In both cases, my progress was heavily affected by the same solo-queue matchmaking problem I am describing here.

I repeatedly encountered random teammates who would effectively grief matches through extremely poor decisions, lack of coordination, unnecessary isolated fights, or by separating from the squad. In some cases, I was matched with players who appeared to struggle even with the level of gameplay normally expected in Platinum, despite us competing in Diamond lobbies.

This happened during both of my Diamond II climbs and prevented me from consistently continuing those runs.

This is why I believe the problem is not limited to my current Ranked session. I have experienced the same pattern across multiple seasons: Master, then Diamond II, then Diamond II again, and now repeated climbs into Diamond IV followed by major losses while solo queuing.

I understand that random teammates will naturally vary in skill and that losing games is part of Ranked. However, the disparity I have repeatedly experienced feels excessive for a competitive Ranked system, especially in Diamond-level lobbies.

I would really appreciate it if the team could review how individual players are matched into solo-queue squads, particularly when there appears to be a substantial difference in Ranked experience and overall skill between teammates.

  • Just say you died and got frustrated and had to vent.  Giving us your half the story about how you lost 1000 RP because other people don't understand your play style is not helpful.
