Re: Huge lag spikes/Game freezing for multiple seconds

@xoCRUZox

Possibly using alternate DNS servers could help. From the Xbox One home screen, go to Settings > Network > Advanced settings > DNS settings > Manual. (If Settings doesn't appear on the home screen, select My Games & Apps, then Settings). From there, enter the Primary DNS as "208.67.222.222" and the Secondary DNS as "208.67.220.220". Let me know what happens. Thanks!

  • @EA_Aljo Will definitely try this out. Thank you for the help, I’ll let you know if anything changes
  • @EA_Aljo After using the DNS servers for a few hours I believe I’ve noticed an improvement in my connection. Still hit a lag spike every once in a while but it definitely doesn’t affect my game as much. Thank you a ton for all the help. If there’s anything I can test or change to improve it further please let me know!
  • That's probably just the result of the server being under less stress at specific times of day.

    Changing your DNS will do nothing for gaming. The only thing it might improve is the resolve time for IP address requests, which will result in faster webpage loading.

    You're being sold snake oil.

    @Dice_Silverstorm Yeah so far it seems better but in the back of my mind I was aware it could’ve been coincidence. Thanks for the info.

    I'm glad to hear this is helping. It's a pretty common practice today as many have found using alternate DNS servers speeds up not only their day to day web browsing but gaming as well. There's a wealth of knowledge available about this online if you wish to learn more. Let us know if you have any more issues. Thanks!

    @xoCRUZox Using a DNS can help you in a few ways even thou it does nothing for gaming etc it do something if you're ISP DNS is messing.

    However, is the issue resolved?
    Else i can try to help you with anything i can.
  • @xoCRUZox If you want, I'd be happy to help you with step-by-step instructions on how to check the quality of your internet connection to determine whether the problem is on your end.
  • @EzyHawk After playing for a few days I believe the issue still remains. It might possibly have something to do with the hardware of my Xbox, but it seems to be better/worse at different times in the day and depending on if there’s more or less players around me in game.
