Re: Octane inappropriate

@Hilshire12 Considering the game has guns, isn't a "cartoon" like Fortnite, has *blood* splatters, have characters that say "death, like winter, is unavoidable", twitch streamers mark their stream as "mature" when they stream (normally due to cussing but still), and I just did a google search on the age rating and found: "Apex has a PEGI rating of 16. PEGI have said this is because it 'features sustained depictions of violence towards human characters and moderate violence. Not appropriate for persons below 16 years of age. (Apr 25, 2019)".

Long story short, this isn't a mature game like GTA and such, but it *still* isn't for little kids to be playing. Those who are playing either snuck on or have parent's permissions. Apex really shouldn't have to cater to the population of players who are underage, just because they have layback or careless parents.

I'm just saying that Octane's character, backstory, etc. is an "all or nothing". The guy legit blew off his own legs after all. What part of that makes you think this is a kids game?

My honest opinion is that if it has a gun, it's not a kids game. If it has blood splatters, it's not a kids game. If the point is to *kill* people, it's not a kids game. Fortnite gets a way with it a little as they don't have any actual voice lines, and the "violence" is more cartooned. "Fortnite has a PEGI rating of 12, PEGI have said this is due to the: 'frequent scenes of mild violence. It is not suitable for persons under 12 years of age'. (Mar 20, 2018)"

If you're going to complain about voicelines, complain about Revenant. "I want your heart.. mhmmmmmm I could slice it up.... *for a snack*", Wraith's "there's a thin line between life and death, you'll find me there" (idk seems pretty much a "lol I might die but WEEEEEE"), Caustic's "I think you misunderstood my intentions, *when I asked for your heart*", Bloodhound's "I shed bloth (blood) in honor of the allfather". Even Bangalore has a line "not for kids". Revenant: "I'm not thanking you", Bangalore: Yeah, you made that clear jackas-"

Point is, Apex isn't an 'adult only' game, but it isn't a kids game either. If you have kids, and you're letting them play this game, keep in mind that if you don't like the voicelines, you should have your kids play Fortnite or another game. Simply because the lines are bought or unlocked in several ways, and Respawn/EA isn't just gunna go "here's a voiceline, JUST KIDDING!".

This mindset of things needing to *change* to "fit children" is honestly bothersome. Further example: Youtube has many videos that have cussing, GTA, etc. and they're not, in any shape OR form, for "kids". Yet... kids get on Youtube and view the videos, and last year I think it was, COPPA or something like that (yeah, it was Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule ("COPPA")) "Huge changes were made on YouTube today regarding kid's content that EVERY creator needs to act on. ... The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a 1998 U.S. law created to protect the privacy of children under 13.Nov 12, 2019" AKA because of kids accessing Youtube with or without parent's permissions, it caused COPPA to basically mess with several channels, in which they either had to change content, mark it as "not for kids", or get off the platform. In other, OTHER words: Kids are accessing things they're not really suppose to be on yet, but I mean I guess it's up to each parent, but because of them, everyone else who's a teen and up are pretty much getting screwed over. A lot of people use Youtube as a job. A lot of people (like EA/Respawn) *create* games to make money. It helps n o o n e, when someone goes "this isn't for kids.... please change it", when it was clear by first glance, or by looking at the game/movie/whatever that it was for mature audiences and up. *Considering* the *fact* that more kids between the age of 8 and 15 played CALL OF DUTY of all games, you know the one with curses, more blood splatters, 'scary' graphics, etc. than the intended audience, and even GTA, is just evidence that kids don't care, and their parents, for some reason don't know or don't care what content their kid is absorbing.

I'm sorry for being blunt. I'm sorry for writing more than I have to. But seriously... even if there was a kids game, all the kids gravitate towards the adult games. There's legit a "Youtube KIDS" app, that most kids don't even use.

More statistics: https://www.familyzone.com/anz/families/blog/what-kids-did-online-2016

As you can see by this, 65% of the data collected, was kids between ages 0 and 8, using Youtube. I have NO idea why any of those are even on Facebook, that 21% is beyond me.

Again, sorry for being blunt and writing a bunch of text. While EA/Respawn's ToS says 'no talk about self harm', and even have a report option for it in the Origin client, that's more for the *players*, since EA/Respawn, and many other game companies can set their game rating however they want to. (Considering Titan Fall, legit had people bursting into piles of flesh when you hit them with an L-Star, my god I was surprised how the enemy NPCs were destroyed by different guns and scattered across the room of the map. Apex is placed in the Titan Fall universe as well. It's apart of the same world. (Like Bangalore is confirmed to be an IMC (Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation) which was the 'enemy' team in Titanfall.)

  • @Midnight9746 Speaking of titanfall, there was an easter egg where it replaced water with blood? and if you jumped in at a certain spot you would be transported to a ritual room with nessie dolls? Yeah, this isn't a kids game, i found that out upon my first time playing.

@CaptainObvi0us_7 Never heard of or seen that before, but it doesn't surprise me.

Looking back at this thread, I see @Hilshire12 misquoted a few lines of Octanes.

Firstly: "You think I'm afraid of you? I blew off my own legs!"
Secondly: "Don't worry about my legs getting tired. I made sure that will never happen again! [laughs]"
Lastly: "Don't worry, I've got a prosthetics guy who can replace, well, everything."

First one refers to how Octane ran the gauntlet using grenades (A titanfall reference to speed runners who used grenades as a boost). He's implying that he wasn't afraid of something that could kill him, so why should he ever fear you?

Second one refers to how he decided to replace his legs with robotic ones. I've read part of his lore that implied that he could of waited for his actual legs to heal, but decided that the function they served was less than what robotic ones could do.

While the last one is more of a *joke*, referring to how he got his legs replaced, and that he could get you fixed up too. Since, well... you've "died" to Octane.

TBH, other legends have hidden jokes that aren't "for children", like Mirage's "Come back if you're ever looking for a Mirage à trois. That's where you fight three of me at once. Pretty sure that's what that means."

Hint: It's NOT what he thinks it means.

Again the world has went completely soft. The cartoons your kids watch are worse then anything this game has voice emotes. Even children animation movies now have sexual remarks and cuss words and meanings you know no child should see.
