Re: Please buff the Thermite Grenades

@DrWizardo
The thermites are my worst nightmare.
A thermite tap and I take 25.
Arc star deals 5-15.
Frag deals about 15.
Normally I manage to get near the edge to take low damage, if not escape it.
When I take a ton of damage from grenades, here's the average:
55 from arcstar.
70 from frag.
85 from thermite.
They don't need a buff.

@Zulkiers That never happens for me. You throw it out, people run straight through INTENTIONALLY, they take 25 damage over time, which is nothing, and 2 tap you with a shotgun.

Half the time they completely avoid my frags somehow

@Zulkiers While I miss with grenades rather often, having 100-bangers with the frags isn't all that uncommon. Also hitting with a grenade for damage that actually matters instead of something players just brush off in a battle is a huge "the feels good" point, at least for me. The thermites do an extremely poor job at damaging players when used offensively, and an even poorer job when used defensively. They are visual clutter and deterrent for very low hp players at best.

If Respawn were to switch out some grenades, the thermite would be the first pick for me.

If anything, it just needs to be a little wider, not more damage.
Then it'll have a better hit rate.
And will break the leader boards in amount of damage dealt by specific grenades because it gets to hit more often than the other two, and for more than the other two.
If anything they are gonna nerf it, not buff it. That'll be sad, but that's how effective it is vs the other two.
Speaking of, I find arc stars more effective than frags because:
    Direct hit, sticky nade.
Frags and arcs do 5-15 on average, half the time missing completely.
Arc will stick on direct hit, guaranteeing 75 on detonation.
Therms deal 25 on initial hit (5 ticks of 5, or something), and stack flame on targets sitting in it, forcing them to escape if they don't want to burn to death. Average damage 35.

thermites are primarily used to deny pathing.

frags are primarily used to create damage and this can be significant when used right.

    different roles, no comparison.

@MrGreenWithAGun And I state that thermites are bad at what they do.
The intimidation factor of flames on the ground is meh, the effect meh, the time meh, the use meh... Also when you offer usage there is comparison in value. Is this item useful? Is it likely to be useful?

To me the thermite is underwhelming and needs to be looked at.

I disagree. If your shields are cracked and you can’t afford to take damage thermite is a great deterrent to movement.

But I can see you want to buff its deterrence. I am iffy on that but I can see why a small buff wouldn’t hurt.

Also, if someone decides to tank a thermite, they'll take over 200 damage. Frags are 100 tops.
I've tanked one before and although I popped a battery on my purple shields, I still died to the thermite grenade. They might've shot me after I finished the battery, I forget. No one really uses them anymore, so I don't get scenarios where I need to tank thermite damage.
