All in all, it might need a nerf, but I think 15 seconds would be a good balance.
Death totem is pretty balanced as it is. The 1 health you had before didn’t really make the totem worth it, as you’d go in, get lasered really easily, and then get sent back to the totem. It was good in some situations, but there were others where it wasn’t, and it should’ve been. Plus, this is an ultimate ability, so it is supposed to be powerful.
The overkill damage doesn’t really matter. Why should they have to heal the overkill damage? It’s like if you knock someone with overkill damage. Why would a revived person need to heal overkill damage? (Not sure if that really made sense). Basically, what I’m trying to say, is that the overkill damage doesn’t really need to have a lasting effect.
Good feedback though.

20 seconds is 20 seconds you just become a normal character without abilities, even if they are available regularly. That makes characters like Caustic, Pathfinder or Wraith who are marked by their ability pretty much just a legend without any advantages. 20 seconds sounds little, but trust me, 20 seconds is way more in a battle than what you currently feel. 10 seconds was already very long. Plus, you have 2 charges. You have a guaranteed refresh/second person affected.
You can imagine Totem on another Legend very well. Imagine Wraith's wormhole was only for you and your team mates, and traveling through it restores 50 health on exit. It's the same effect. Yet I believe no one would want that, right? Or if Wraith uses into the void, exiting would grant +50 health. It's the same. Totem accounts for your entire team, meaning that the entire enemy team gets a flat 150 total health. Doesn't sound that innocent anymore.
The buffer damage was supposed to account lethal damage into the death prevention. Why? It's quite simple, actually. Imagine you shoot a half dead enemy with a sniper or a shotgun. Hypothetically, this overkill damage just vanishes into nowhere. Every other would have died/been downed now. They soaked this damage up and can instantly use even just a single syringe to be back at 75% health, and a single shield battery would put them on full shield. They are basically full health enemies again. Your team doesn't have that capability. You stand there with at least 50 health missing, for each team member that is, so that is 150 health missing.
Long story short, instead of putting the health back to 1 upon lethal damage, buffer damage can at least prevent the gathering of a turning tide in a battle. Or in words a raging person stomping into the forum would say: It's overpowered/unfair.
- 6 years ago@Peri_Longbow_plz A Wraith still won’t be affected too much by the silence, as her hitbox is small. The point of the silence is to make characters be somewhat normal. If you have skill with movement, like strafing or sliding, this will force you to use it more.
It’s also not guaranteed. You can miss easily if the person decides to move, plus it is literally a giant glowing ball.
The point of the totem is to give you basically a second life. The balance is that you only have 100 health when you enter the totem, which makes you much easier to kill than normal. It’s supposed to be strong. If you want to prevent this, then you can use a Caustic, or a Gibby ult, or a Bangalore ult, or by simply shooting down the 100 health shadow figures. Heck, even the hammer point hop ups are a huge counter to this.
If I have to sit there after I get hit with a Wingman headshot and pop a medkit to just get rid of the buffer damage, then it’s now similar to before.
It isn’t really op though.
(Also, sidenote. The battery restores all shields, not just a certain amount. I assume the same for the medkit and Phoenix kit, and it says the same on the wiki. I’m not sure how this would fit into your buffer damage thing.)- 6 years ago@Sir_Named I love playing him now, probably my most used legend since he was introduced and with the buffs think he is certainly a good legend to have on your team now.
Bloodhound had a buff recently as well so I'm happy now just need some love for Octane.
Obviously Mirage needs a rework as well.
- 6 years ago@Sir_Named I would still add 10-20m on that ultimate tho. Time and again I keep falling victum to slight short changing of radius. Hell i'd settle for 5m.........
