- @bo3nv8maxnj6 In my opinion, best season for me since like S13, but definitely not the greatest season of all time. I'd give credit to like S3 or so for that.
It's been so long, I've forgotten the feel of most of the seasons. I only remember that S13 was the start of things going downhill.
I would of started off with a perks LTM. (Not the one we had where we had two per week), but a sample S20. Get a community feedback along with a change in evo armor and other aspects before dropping it into the main game as the new meta.
I think people would of benefited from being able to try each part of the season out first and been allowed to give feedback before an actual release. Kinda like how we got kill cams in Mixtape for hopefully being able to see them in normal matches, (but please add an option to disable them Respawn. They do get annoying sometimes, and I've seen a ton of threads of players asking for them to get removed).
Also, Respawn had said that they removed the ability to place legend abilities on Tridents, yet I can still do that. *shrug* - Goodbye Apex

I remember back in the OG days, when Apex Legends was an actual shooter, with abilities that didn't fully determine the outcome of a fire fight sorely - rather were there to aid, and to assist in fire fight outcomes, making the fire fights fun, and different from the average shooter.
This game now is a game of abilities with a bit of shooter added in...at least as a day one player, that is my feel of the current state of this game and has felt like such for at least 12 seasons or more.
The meta the new generation Dev's seem to push is just nothing like the old game. I get games evolve overtime but this game went in a strange direction. Reveal meta is everything and abilities are the be all end all to every engagement.
I miss the old Apex Legends... the one that very quickly was seen as one of, if not thee... best BR game in the world. Now,
Well....
You are in the minority when it comes to thinking the shield changes and overall gameplay is worse.
Eliminating the RNG from shields needed to have been done a long time ago. There is no skill in landing at a POI with another team, then they get Purple, Blue, Gold and you are already behind in the fight. That idea was terrible from the start.
If they changed the shield progression to only level up on kills, then you would be forced to land and fight the entire lobby and hope to come out just to get shield level ups.
The new system is perfect.
Most teams that go for harvesters and bins and whatnot will generally only have blue for the most part.
You get bonuses for actually using your characters passives, which makes some of the dumb randoms you queue with actually contribute to the team, and then if you want to set up for late game and actually get points in ranked, you have to fight and win your battles to get Purple or Red.
The only bad part of this season is the blatant cheating and audio.
Everything else is a massive improvement to a very stale game.
Again, good luck on whatever game you land on, but saying the shield changes and whatnot are bad, you are definitely in the minority there.
Gun skill, overall skill, and map knowledge should be the aspects that help you win in this game, especially in early fights, not RNG on drop.
They finally make the game feel new and fun with the legends and gameplay mechanics but some of you will never be happy and will get triggered no matter what the devs do.
EA, can you fix pub games?
At least add some form of minor penalty. Maybe not as severe as rank, but add something. When your casual game-play is not fun, it ruins the rank scene. It forces casual players to play in sweaty rank lobbies, where everyone complains and is overall unhappy.
Some days i just want to play casual. But every pub game, the entire lobby would drop in 1 or 2 POI, and the game would end within ring 2.
you have random teammates who think they're Faide and just want 4K badges. But guarantee you that the second they get downed, they scream "where are my teammates?!" and immediately leave the game. You either win with 20+ kills, or die with 100 dmg. Lets be real, youre probably doing more dying than winning 😉
That is apex legends in a nutshell.
100% there with you. Been playing since launch, but solidly average and odd playing times mean I’m stuck playing solo. It’s been bad in the past, but this is a whole new level of impossible. Win rate had consistently been 5%-6% every season, now it’s barley over 1%!!! Forget about k/d/r. Honestly don’t know why I’m still playing. Don’t know if cheating is out of control or just a new sadistic matchmaking. Whatever it is, it’s like they are trying to force a particular cohort of players (average, solo) to quit.
I completely agree i have played this game since it's release and has been the only game I have ever been able to continuously come back to because I am autistic and I have a hard time focusing apex has allways been my highest played game but with this new season 20 it brings me great heartache that it has become unplayable and unenjoyable for those of us that would like the average playable experience half of the fun was building your own shields or finding gold ones and being able to drop them for my less experienced team mates and friends to protect them from dying immediately it gave us more experienced players a fighting chance to protect our friends to help them get more enjoyment out of our matches and it's even more disappointing to know this will never be fixed because us lower class players really have no say in anything and those who are pros and spend there life savings in the game will cover the loss from us average plays quiting and loosing what used to be a very very enjoyable game

"You are in the minority when it comes to thinking the shield changes and overall gameplay is worse."
Did I miss a data dump on this?
"Eliminating the RNG from shields needed to have been done a long time ago."
Yeah, sure. Let's take luck out of the game so that impatient kids don't have to learn any hard lessons about managing the risks associated with random loot.
"Most teams that go for harvesters and bins and whatnot will generally only have blue for the most part."
You're doing it wrong.
"Gun skill, overall skill, and map knowledge should be the aspects that help you win in this game, especially in early fights, not RNG on drop."
100% right. But drop rng isn't winning games for bad players. It might win an engagement at the beginning, but that player won't survive to the end. And if he takes out a "better" player early on because he got lucky with loot, then the lesson here is for the "better" player to stop letting luck kick his butt. No hot dropping.
Nevertheless, on the subject of whether or not this takeover is a better direction for the game, or whether or not "most" players like it, we're gonna have to agree to disagree. What Are you talking about. Felt fresh from start but its just same old grinding now. Good changes, apex has Been so Boring. And Btw Day 1 player.
This is me, Some combo of matchmaking, changes to the game and player mindset but season 20 has been a miserable experience. I don't mind the changes in a vacuum but they seem to make the other issues stand out even more.
This is coming from someone who's played since day 1 and for the most part thought matchmaking complaints were overblown until now. Apex has been my main game for 5 years and very often while solo queing. Lately I have next to no interest to log in and know it'll be the same BS in one form or another and maybe get 1 decent match out 10-15. And when I do squad up with even 1 other person suddenly every other squad is a master+ 3 stack. I don't know what they did to their matchmaking this season but I'll probably be done with this game if it doesnt sort itself out soon.
