Skirmisher Class Passive

The primary point of this point is truly to add or swap the passive of the skirmisher class. This class is composed of movement and aggressive play legends. We should be rewarded and incentivized to push into combat situations. The current passive of the class is the ability to scan care packages as they drop and see the best loot. But I'd argue that this passive doesn't really benefit the characters in the skirmisher class with the exclusion of pathfinder. The other skirmishers don't get ult resets on scanning so realistically unless a carepackage is super close we most likely won't even go to it. And unless it has our favorite red gun or a kraber it probably won't be worth the effort to pursue as any pathfinder that is worth his salt can just zipline to push able range of the care package and get the loot first and with it he essentially has 3 ziplines anytime they fall so he can get in and out rediculously quick if he scans the right way and his team knows not to scan(other skirmishers never scan if you have a pathfinder always let him do it.)

My thought for a change would be tactical ability charge/cooldown reduction based on assists, knocks, and kills.

Because I am a wraith main I will use her phase as an example. We have a 25 second cooldown so we really only use the ability 4-5 times a game because save it for combat situations and to reduce damage in the ring primarily. Skirmishers as a whole should be using abilities more than anyone else. We skirmish(lol)

Aka for wraith if she gets an assist 1 second cooldown reduction for her phase, 3 for a knock, and 2 more for the kill to be finished(5 for a full kill aka that last team member who insta- dies)

Even a full team elimination in a 1v3 situation wouldn't technically fully reset her ability but this would mean she would be able to use it more in fights as those seconds add up without being too broken or unbalanced. And if applied across the whole skirmisher class you get wraith phasing more, pathfinder grappling, horizons Grav lifting, valks bombarding, and so on. The combat becomes more chaotic but not broken. Right now skirmisher passives don't really make us fight or move more. They take us away from the fight to chase loot. Loot that probably won't be there anyway by the time we get there. And while this can create a fight for the care package itself most of the time it we and other skirmishers just ignore the care packages for the whole game when we see a gold Evo, or anything that isn't close or a kraber. So it doesn't really add to the game unless your pathfinder who now can whip out 3 ults in rapid succession if he chooses.

  • @Slyvannis They have the "worst" passive because the legends are really good already. Even tho' I'd say the ring scanning on control ain't good on them
  • @DrWizardo I can hear you on that its just the passive isn't even related to what our class's designation. The only thing care packages do is entice us towards loot and away from fights. I see more unopened care packages post class update than ever before the red weapons sit unused for the whole match. Beforehand most people just pushed every care package that was somewhat close to them in hopes of getting something worth the effort. Now we know what's in them and don't bother with it because doing so takes away from fights.

In fact the only time I push a care package these days is if I'm close to it and see that someone else has looted it. Not because I care about the loot but because this is the closest I can get to find another team to fight lol

Skirmishers wanna fight we wanna outmove and out shoot our opponents therefore our passive should have some kind of relation to it.

Some kind of ability cooldown reduction system where we are incetivized to push fights because it speeds up our recharges would make sense for the class and I'm sure there's a way where this can be balanced to not be over powered.

Scanning for control if you actually fit the feel of those legends is actually fantastic because those are the defensive legends who thrive in environments they can set up sure you have the ttv Wattson's who play zipline building and go crazy with ad-hoc zapping but the average control player is gonna set up in a building for defense. Near the ending ring
  • @Slyvannis While I do agree a buff to the skirmisher perk is in order, I don’t think permanent cooldown reductions or even temporary ones are the way to go, especially given you would need to apply that to every legend equally. Octane already has no cooldown for his tactical, so it wouldn’t work for him, and Mirage’s cooldown is decently quick as well. The primary idea behind skirmisher legends is the ability to quickly get in and out of fights or move across the map. That means that resetting fights is a major component of how they are played. So, my personal suggestion is one of two things:

    1) They can use healing items slightly quicker, allowing for them to get back into the fight sooner. Or,

    2) They charge their Evo Shields at a reduced damage cost, allowing for them to get to a better shields quickly, and as a result charge it up more mid-fight.

For the first one, my reduction suggestions are .5 seconds off shield cells, 1 second off syringes and batteries, and 1.5 seconds off medkits and phoenix kits. For the second one, my reduction suggestions are 125 damage white->blue, 250 damage blue->purple, and 650 damage purple->red.

Solid concept, I'd totally accept that over what we have however I still like the cooldown reduction concept. For octane possibly affect his ultimate instead was my idea around that because let's be real Octane practically has 2 tactical with how fast he gets his pad anyway its like every minute that's 4x as fast as wraith gets her portal. Mirage's cooldowns for his abilities are busted lol if you can be thoughtful how you use em he naturally gets his ult like 2-3 times per 3v3 if it gets drawn out a bit.

Also objectively, Mirage shouldn't be a skirmisher but a support legend. With his escape potential and invisible revives he makes a ton more sense to put into that class. His abilities push more for distract the enemy and survive his ult makes it so easy for free beams for his teammates to take advantage of.

After all if you get a gold knockdown you wanna really give it to Mirage if you have him on the team. Sure Lifeline or Newcastle should get it first but I'd still give Mirage the goldknock before Gibby or Loba.
