The game is not noobie friendly
I thought I should write a feedback of my experince playing the game up to level 34 because I was enjoying the game up til a couple of levels ago where the game simply became unenjoyable.
My friend hyped me up to play Apex Legends as we missed playing a shooter together. He suggest we should give Apex a try as he enjoyed it at season 0 before it became hackers central, at least that is fixed now.
The first few levels we got destroyed almost every single encounter, weaponless or not. We both chucked it to lacking game knowlege and sucking at the controls (both playing on ps4 and ps5). We started watching youtube help videos and practicing our aim and controls. Arena was great for getting in to simple skirmishes and practicing combat tactics and approches. We even started playing the game alone when the other wasn't available. I bought the legends bundle to try new legends.
We started getting the hang of the game and even winning few royales now and then although I personally feel like didn't contribute much, only averaging 200 damage. I just didn't act suicidal and tried to be a team player. Around level 30 I had my first and only game where it felt like I carried my team to victory where I got around 1200 damage and 9 kills. Honestly felt proud and full adrenaline and just wanted to keep going. The next very game, my team mates were players with thousands of kills, games and various other stats indicating a lot of time put in to the game. Oh cool I said, I get to have a pro on my team, Ill try to keep up. Oh, all 3 champions have similar stats... guess I will try to not die.
Something familar started happening. Every single encounter was completely one sided with no chance of me to react. Even when I manage to catch someone by surprise, they simply turn around and knock me down in less than a second. I simply figuered that the one good game must have screwed the match making and started putting me in to pro lobbies even though my kd remains at 0.65. Ok, maybe few games of later the mm will re adjust me to a more appropriate lobbies. 2 levels later of landing in hotspots and instantly getting downed or landing safetly and getting instantly downed by the first encounter later and nothing has changed. Letteraly zero kills and less than 100 damage in every single game for 2 levels and will to play the game is gone.
The game went full circle for us. From having teamates that don't communicate and go solo to die and instantly disconnect to having teamates that don't communicate and go solo to die and instantly disconnect but now they can trade shots much better I guess. Game knowledge, teamwork, synergistic plays and communication went out the window for favoring aimbot like skills. Or it could have been straight up aimbot, not relavant and it's the same for casual players.
As per reddit advice, I started playing ranked in hopes of being matched with similar skilled players. Nope, I am bronze 4 and I still keep seeing players in masters and higher. I feel robbed not for the money I payed, I payed more for less. I feel robbed for that the moment the game started cilcking for me it drove me away by awful match making.
I expect the "git gud" crowd to swarm me but I'd rather not git gud. Sitting hours everyday improving my videogame shooting skill isn't my idea of fun on my limited free time nor is playing sweat games even of I had the skill for it. Also before the "battle royal isnt for you" crowd start pitching in, WRONG. I enjoyed my experince until the game started enforcing unrealstic expectations and massive skill spike.
Tldr: Match making is busted yo
