Aim assist is a tricky subject for sure.
Started as an assistance for the family room, then developed into a marketing tool used by video game companies so (mostly) everyone felt good about themselves.
Once analog sticks became the subject of complaints (mostly because of stick drift), developers started giving more fine controls like in/out deadzone, aim acceleration, curves, which in turn play a huge role in the development of the user becoming more precise while aiming with an analog stick.
If you ever wondered why going back to an old console game feels so strange, this could be the reason. Old titles are known to have high deadzone settings.
In my opinion without question, mouse & keyboard players should have the option to choose for themselves if they want to play with aim assisted controllers.
Becoming great with a mouse & keyboard is achievable, but it takes a long to do it, even more so while someone with aim assist is at your back.
I'm a controller user for whomever might read this, I'm not biased. If the person who disagrees with the statement that aim assistance isn't that powerful, you should ask yourself these questions.
Have you ever used a mouse for gaming?
1) If not, just speaking on the subject is a biased opinion.
2) If you have, but currently play with a controller, that too is considered biased.
I think there is another reason why people keep disagreeing with the subject.
If someone just purchased a pricey controller, but then a new topic comes along like, "Aim Assist Is Bad", the original purchaser might defend the use of aim assist, because it directly affects their purchase.
So basically, aim assist is a marketing tool and an actual assistance used by millions.
Why is this such a tricky subject you may ask?
If Respawn changed something that directly affects millions, it could hurt their profit margins. EA and Respawn rely on the success of Apex Legends, and dealing with such an issue is something no one wants to deal with.
How does one tell millions that their controller was a bad investment?
