Unique way to Nerf the new gun

I might agree with some of the suggestions that the new gun should be nerfed. The thing absolutely shreds or at least it has for me so far. I could change my mind on this as people become more familiar with the gun and look for possible ways to effectively counter it.

That said if it does come down to nerfing it. I would like to see it nerfed in a fashion so that the guns damage decreases with range. Maybe it be really effective up to 100 meters but the damage start dropping off beyond 100 meters. (feel free to suggest what ever distance you feel is good here).The further out the target the less damage it does. So that the G7, long bow and triple take are competitive with it at long ranges and/or the long bow and triple take having a slight advantage at really long ranges. This would be fitting for a laser type of weapon, especially when compared to real life laser weapons. When it comes to real life, laser weapons are highly effective at short ranges, but lose effectiveness over long ranges. This is because the atmosphere and particulate matter in the atmosphere interact with the laser beam. So they tend to lose their power over longer and longer distances. 

There are still some draw backs I see to this gun as it is. The biggest one being that the laser beam lets the entire map know your exact location and it's not really subtle either. So it does give people, especially third parties the opportunity to flank you and take you out.

  • I think it should be lowered at short range personally....i've been firing this thing off the hip and its far more deadly at close range...feels kinda like a PK in terms of raw power and fire rate.

  • @DarthValtrex I suggest just adding a limit to how far the beam can reach. Maybe 100-300 meters? That way you won't get beamed across the map and feel helpless.

    Any attempt beyond that limit will just make the weapon look like a lightsaber. Stopping after x meters.
  • I love the gun as it is but it does make the game too easy.

    -I'd suggest the following, add a slight range drop, but allow the weapon to retain it's ranged dominance over other snipers.

    -drop the fire rate considerably, this more than anything is what makes this weapon so deadly as you can literally fill an entire enemy squad with holes in seconds over huge ranges and unless they also have a charge rifle they're helpless. A great delay between shots would limit this as it gives people a chance to grab cover making peaking to force a wasted shot a good escape method.

    I agree with the fire rate reduction but just a little,  and maybe remove the initial damage?, but add that damage to the final charge, so people can't destroy people with only the initial beam, and other thing i noticed is that the laser beam is so quiet, you really don't know what happened until you see your hp and see the second charge.
