Unplayable FPS on RTX 5070 & i3-13100 after latest update
Massive FPS drops (10-65 FPS) and GPU Underutilization after May Update - RTX 5070 / i3-13100
Hello,I am experiencing a complete breakdown in performance after the latest Apex Legends update. Before the update (yesterday), the game ran perfectly at a stable 200 FPS. Now, it is literally unplayable.
My System Specs:
GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 5070 (12GB VRAM)
CPU: Intel Core i3-13100 Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B760-G GAMING WIFI RAM: 32GB DDR5 OS: Windows 11 (Latest build) Renderer: DirectX 12 (D3D12)
The Issue: My FPS is constantly fluctuating between 10 FPS and 120 FPS. Even more concerning, my monitoring tools show that my GPU Core Clock is stuck at ~560 MHz during gameplay, and GPU usage is extremely low. It seems the game (or the DX12 renderer) is failing to trigger the 3D performance state of the RTX 50-series card.
Everything I have already tried (and it DID NOT work):
Clean driver installation using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller).Updated BIOS to the latest version on my B760-G motherboard.Reinstalled the game completely.Cleared DirectX shader cache and NVIDIA cache.Set Windows Power Plan and NVIDIA Power Management to "Prefer Maximum Performance".Toggled HAGS (Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling) and Game Mode On/Off.Lowered all in-game settings to "Low" (the issue persists even on the lowest settings).Verified that Re-Size BAR is enabled in BIOS.The game worked flawlessly 24 hours ago. This is clearly a regression in the latest patch, specifically affecting how the engine handles CPU/GPU overhead on newer hardware.
Could you please provide a step-by-step solution or acknowledge if this is a known bug with the 50-series architecture in the new update?
Thank you.
